Higgins is a font of inspiration and knowledge; those who criticize his keen humor and incisive wit demonstrate their own paucity of inspiration and intellect. Not difficult to stay awake if you possess even a modicum of curiosity and dedication.

Higgins is THE MAN. doesnt care about attendance, will allow late assignments for full credit, shows movies every single class(just about)and is very passionate about his topic(primarily Asia though). Only downside is he religiously keeps class for the full hour 45 minutes, but if you email him he will let you get away with almost anything. SO EASY

Completely unclear, very very confusing, hard to get ahold of, all he does is talk about Asia even when this is not the subject matter of the class. I haven't learned anything and I have no idea how to progress in his class when there are no legitimate assignments. The only plus side is that he cancels class more than the average student skips.

Absolutely the worst. You have to fight to stay awake everyday. No visual aids, just lecture. He does nothing to keep you from wanting to catch the chicken pox so you have an excuse not to go. RUN AWAY! If you can avoid him, Stay away.

Late Imperial China: Smart guy, very passionate about his topic, but absolutely CLUELESS teacher. Most of the time we watched movies, or listened to him ramble about tea, pottery, bamboo, etc. Assignments WILL MAKE NO SENSE, and his clarification will only make things worse. Just do assignments how you THINK they ought to be done, and it'll be fine

He was the worst professor I have had on this campus by far. We never had any idea of what needed to be done or known for tests or readings. I hated this class.

Modern Japan: Higgins loves Asia and it shows. Expects a LOT of reading, but shows a movie most every class. Very few assignments, one paper and two tests. I really love this class. Higgins is VERY forgetful, and will often misunderstand questions. Also, cancels class often (we've cancelled three this semester). Class moves very slow!

Higgins is great. Very laid back and is a wealth of information. Class moved at a relatively slow pace because he becomes so involved in what we're on in the moment.

Terrible. I was excited to take the class because I've visted Asia before. My freshmen highschool class teacher taught me more. Take his tests are terrible because the information he teaches in class is everywhere so you dont know what to study!

Higgins is a very good professor. The problem is that people expected to be handed a good grade, and he expects you to work for a good grade. This is a great professor for anyone serious in History, who wants a thought provoking class.

His classes are not as boring as everyone else comments. If you actually listen to what he has to say then they are good lectures. Like anything if you think the class is going to suck before you get there, then that impression is already in your head. He is one of the nicest, understanding profs I have had at KSC.

Great prof. He is so nice, and if you actually care about your classes then you wont find them boring. Everyone thinks that they are boring, but he is really nice, and understanding. I think that he knows so much about his subject matter and tries to get the students involved, and excited.
