Genetics; Powerpoints often have more info than he cares about so show up, maybe record, so you know what is relevant vs what isn't. Pop quizzes every class, always review the previous lecture before class but some quizzes are 1/2 into class about what you were just taught, so pay attention! But only your top several quiz scores affect your grade.

Although lots of work, very rewarding and an outstanding genetics professor. All pre health profession students should take him to learn. I learned so much in this class and i know it will help me when i transfer .

Really good but way hard. More hard than most other classes ive had, even in biology including UCI. Not fair if you compare to other teachers, but i learned so much even though my grade was not great.

Lecture is absolutely mandatory! Though his slides were useless, his teaching style when it came to actual practical stuff was pretty helpful if you paid attention. He is really funny, thats why though I didnt do too well, I would retake him again. Read your lecture book! The lecture exams are all based off the book.

Comment:

It's refreshing to have a professor that isn't all hoity-toity politically correct or abysmally boring. He expects you to have a "beyond-bio93/81" understanding of meiosis by the time you get to him, which is fair. Genetics isn't a class that everyone and their mom takes. I'd recommend him, but not to most of the student population at IVC.

The main reason this professor's score is so high and seemingly passable is because 80% of the students who have taken him dropped or withdrew and never looked back. Take this class with someone else or else you're just wasting loads of time and energy for a C or lower. Only the most hardcore students will get a B or higher.

Great teacher and great class overall. You do have to read and study in this class but tests are so hard after. He also gives great feedback will help students as long as they are willing to learn. Would recommend to take for anatomy

He has a very hands on way of teaching; which is not everyones cup of tea. He will try and catch you off guard by asking you surprise questions, which actually helped me grasp the concept better. Participation is not necessary but it will help you if you show up to all his lectures since his tests are pretty much based on his lectures.

Ok. This was probably the hardest professor Ive had since returning to college to get my science pre-reqs knocked out as an adult student. This prof is no joke. Very tough grader - attend all lectures and read the book. He has a good sense of humor, though, and made lectures interesting. Id take him again, even though this class made me cry.

His lectures aren't so well done because it's not clear what you need to know, but it's obvious he's an expert. Tells a ton of jokes, but sometimes he's a little ridiculing of you For summer anatomy you need to really spend most your time learning outside the class and inside the class is just a bit of reinforcement

I took Prof. Rodriguez's anatomy class this summer and l loved it. He is not an ordinary professor and you really have to be a self-motivator type to do well in his class. If you put in your time and effort ( I mean a very serious time and effort!) you will learn a lot and do well in his class. His lectures are fast-paced and never boring.
