He's a very nice professor, and he always makes sure that we know what we're doing. However, his grading style is sometimes confusing, so I would go up to him with your assignment to review before turning it in. I don't think I would take him again because I just don't think I'll ever have him again. He is a really cool person though.

Dr. Goebel is a true asset to UAH. He cares deeply about each of his students. I have had the privilege to take several classes with him and he is an outstanding professor. He grades tough and expects a lot of his students, but definitely inspires them to go above and beyond. He is genuinely interested in his students and wants everyone to succeed.

Some of the topics in the German Culture class that we covered were not my cup of tea, but I was intrigued most of the time. Because of the small class size (3 students, one auditor) our time was spent in open discussion. He assigned our final project at the beginning of the semester and it was up to us to turn in drafts as we finished them.

I looove this teacher. He is my favorite by far. I am really close to him and enjoy being around him not only in class but also in his office. He explains a lot of things to me and helps me out a lot. He is a really good teacher and a really good friend. I recommend him to everyone. He is smart and a good instructor. Glad to have him as my teacher.

I took Honors Seminar with him. Couldn't ask for a more knowledgeable or interesting professor. Class was always fascinating. Research projects were tough, but he was very helpful with them.

Overall a good professor. The material he covers is interesting, but most of the class does not like to participate in class, and he will talk on and on if he notices that no one will take a chance to give an insight or an opinion. I would take him again if I had the opportunity.

Lucid, interesting lectures. Doesn't require a lot of work - he grades this class based on two papers, one exam, attendance and participation. I thought he made it very clear what he wanted on the papers and I actually had fun writing them. Dr. Goebel himself is very easy to talk to, very friendly, helpful, etc. No complaints.

Didn't establish criteria for papers, and then graded down for not including things that were never said to be required. Extremely liberal, and contradicted himself a lot. It's hard to please a professor who does not make it known what is "required".

Dr. Goebel is very forthcoming about what he expects in his class. If you take him for two weeks and don't like it, you should probably drop. However, if you can hang in, he makes German really interesting. He comes at it from more than several angles, and cares why his students want to learn it.
