Comment:
He gives assignments without guideline, and then grades your assignments by opinion. While this course could have been one full of education and information, he simply goes by opinion when grading, causing this course to be nothing short of dreadful. I tried to reach out to him, he did not seem to care that I cared about my grade from day 1.

Dr. Morrison is super hard but also really good. He gives great feedback and is super helpful with his assignments. Don't be afraid to ask him questions when you don't understand. The sooner you participate in the Discussion Boards, the better. There is a lot of reading involved, but the novels are fantastic.

You will read over 50 pages per week. Essays are graded on his opinion without a clear guideline of how he grades. He comments alot with his opinion of political beliefs but claims it does not affect your grade.

Obviously lots of reading. five or so novels plus lots of poetry. Even though Hardy isn't my favorite author, I learned quite a bit and enjoyed the class more than I thought I would. We had a blog assignment that was total busy work, but the papers and boards were worthwhile. Dr Morrison is truly a Hardy scholar but he wasn't snooty or overbearing

This is the worst class I have taken in my entire life. He will destroy your soul, make you consider dropping out, and overall critique you to the point that you question your entire self-worth. Very tough grader, a lot of homework, unnecessarily rude human being. Do not recommend in the slightest.

I didn't particularly enjoy Dr. Morrison's class. I also don't enjoy English classes anyway but the way this one is taught just isn't my cup of tea. He is very knowledgeable on the subject matter but he grades toughly. I thought this class would be an easy A since it is a gen ed but it isn't. If you're looking for an easy A don't take his section.

Took him for an online class. He seems like a smart professor who cares about what he's teaching but he's a super harsh grader and his weekly assignments are lengthy and time consuming. Don't take this class if you don't like reading a LOT. I don't want to take any of his classes ever again tbh

He was unavailable for help, insisting that I email him with any problems rather than meet in person. His emails are confusing and very broad. He failed my final paper for an issue with my sources after refusing to meet with me before hand. His course was a ton of reading and time consuming BB Posts and Quizzes EVERY WEEK. Harsh grader.

Grade was based on major essays, mid-term essay, and a final exam essay. I worked for days on each paper and had a past teacher look them over. I made mostly Bs. Be prepared for a lot of intense reading. He was quick to send back papers with comments and grades. By the end of the class, I had adjusted to what he expected, but I won't take again.

I loved his classes. He seems organized and very helpful. I took two online classes, and his expectations are clear, and I had no problems following instructions and getting an A. He is definitely in my top 2 favorite profs at MSU.

Hard grader, doesn't inform you of your grade, and he's rude. I don't recommend unless you are an English major... maybe not even then.

He was a very tough grader on papers. Every little thing he could find wrong he counted off. I am a decent writer and struggled to get an A-. I would suggest against this guy unless you are naturally an amazing writer. Also you have to read a lot for this class. 50+ pages a week plus corresponding quizzes and q's online. I took the class online.

This course was online and he is a entirely too hard. I wish I had never taken this course because it's ruined my love of Romantic and Victorian literature. He's a real stickler for the little things and is not at all encouraging. He also counts off for not leaving things off you were not told to include.

Professor Morrison is not very clear in his expectations. He never once posted grades on blackboard (it was an online class), so none of us knew what our grades were until the semester was completely over. His suggestions were not helpful and were typically menial.

I was very disappointed in his teaching. He started off seeming very cool and intelligent but as the semester progressed he became more unhelpful, lazy, and in my opinion unnecessarily harsh. Also, he made several statements about Appalachia that made me uncomfortable. The work was hard but nothing I wouldn't expect from a 300 level English class.
