Spielberg/Lucas - Online: This was one of the best classes I have taken at ASU. Unlike most profs, he actually wants his students to learn. He is helpful, accessible, provides timely responses and appropriate feedback. Easy to talk to, knowledgable, and passionate about the subject. He makes it clear what is expected. Follow directions, get an A.

Ron Newcomer is an excellent prof. who has extensive knowledge of what he teaches. His assignments are consistent and you know exactly what is expected of you. Assignments although can be somewhat lengthy are based on your opinions so as long as your willing to put time into making them your own they are pretty easy. I cant get enough of his classes

He is such a nice guy and he gives you a lot of slack on assignments. When he lectures its a little dry but he does very little of it anyways. Any of his classes are highly recommended.

A really fair instructor. You know exactly what is expected of you assignment-wise. The assignments are really easy because he just asks for your opinion, so it's hard to go wrong. He knows what he's talking about and is a no b.s. guy. He seems like he has better things to do than try to screw students over.

Spielberg/Lucas: Great professor that really cares about people and what he is teaching. Knows his stuff! Go to class, care, and actually write good papers and you will get an A. Great GPA Booster and he's a cool guy. He seems like a hard a** at first, but lightens up a lot. Take this class, Recommended!

Really easy, really interesting, simply write what you think and you get an A+. He always grades the silent films harder than the rest so chill. Responded to most of my emails and was very helpful. don't listen to the audio, it doesn't matter for the papers.

Ron is a great guy who knows what he is talking about. The Journals/Research projects are intensive but he's not a rough grader (its on your opinions and responses to films watched). Wait for the Irish unit, it touches your heart.

Really easy class and kind of interesting but he is kind of a weird professor, he's easily irritable and if you want to ask him questions he looks at you like you're wasting his precious time. If you stay for the lecture portion you'll be better off for it but you can almost always leave after the lecture and rent the movie (no lecture afterward).

Ron is just plain awesome. He definately knows film. His classes are fun and informative. Very easy to talk with. Don't try to coast his classes though. He will dislike you for it.

Newcomer is very knowledgable in his field. A lot of the kids in the class did not give him or the course the respect it deserved. So enthusiasm and write like you mean it and he'll give you the grade you earned - an A. Highly recommended. If you do not like writing and would rather take tests, sign up for a class with Gus Edwards instead.

Took the class online and found out later he grades online assignments much harder than in-class assignments. It was tough meeting the 750-word minimum for papers on silent movies. He took off points for minor details. I didn't think it was a super easy class, but interesting and not difficult nonetheless.

He didnt even grade my papers,figured this out halfway through the class. He just gives you credit for turning them in. On the last half of my papers I wrote a cover page,the rest was just me rambling about my day. He was none the wiser. He probably had a lazy TA. If you get your paper back and no crease near the staple. Write anything you want

Great class,so easy! If you don't like old movies you can always just go and sign in on the attendance sheets (he gave 50 points extra credit to kids who "attended" alot in my class) and then just walk out and look up answers online.Except for the French New Wave movies, you pretty much have to see it cause its impossible to find online.Recommended

Doesnt Get much better than watching movies and then writing about them. I found it fun and I found new interest in older movies especially, fun and easy. Take this course.
