Sweetest man, the class is super easy as long as you read the stories before. Take good notes during his discussions for tests and you will pass easily with an A.

Dont buy the textbook, every poem and story can be found online. If you dont go to class, just look up a summary of his assigned readings and you'll be fine. Hes super sweet and funny but lectures can be really boring.

Dr. Hoag is really cool and funny, however, it can be hard to pay attention in his class because all he does is lecture for the full class time. If you show up to class and pay attention then you should pass easily.

Caring Professor! He doesnt take attendance and I didnt buy the book because you can easily google the poems and stories and bring them to class. There are only 4 grades and they all come from test each worth 25%. He does offer 1 extra credit paper.

The sweetest old man ever. Class is lecture and discussion based; there's no PowerPoint, just him rambling on for a century. But if you actually pay attention, which I strongly recommend, he's hilarious. Take notes, because you WILL need them for exams. Relatively easy grader, and gives good feedback on papers. Works hard to help students succeed.

Not the most exciting class ever but this man is super sweet and tried to make everybody laugh as much as possible during lectures. He is very flexible and offers extra credit. He also really cares about working through stuff with his students and will really listen to them and make sure they understand everything. An easy A class, just do the work

The sweetest old man ever!!! All you have to do is come to his class (required attendance) and read the stories before. There's a quiz on the readings but they're simple if you've actually read and the tests are not that hard either. He usually assigns really good stories too and they're only a few pages long.

Dr. Hoag runs his class by standing in the front of the class just talking and talking and talking. He doesn't use any power point slides and only uses blackborad to put grades up. He talks a lot about himself telling lots of personal stories. I wouldn't recommend taking his class at all!

Dr. Hoag is a sweet guy, but bless his heart, he is SO boring. I can't help but to nod off while he's talking. He drones on and on and I think he gives you more information than you really need. Go to class for test material & the book is an essential.

Mr. Hoag is a great professor! He explains all the readings in depth and tells you exactly what they all mean. You don't really have to read the poems before class because he reads them in class and explains them. Attendance is not mandatory but his lectures are VERY helpful when it comes to the tests. Highly recommend!

Hoag is a very nice old man and teaches very straight forward. He basically gives you the answers for the test. The exams are very straight forward, know what happened in the stories and in class he'll give you the meaning. I recommend the class, if you like reading, it's an easy A.

Nice guy and will answer questions if asked. But the tests are very hard and you have to know a lot of information for them. Study guide isn't very helpful. Pretty much all on your own when it comes to the tests. Not very informative when you email him.

3 exams: 2 on poems and 1 about short stories. The final is also on short stories. All of the 4 exams are count 25%. Dr. Hoag will give out an extra credit at the end of the semester. He is a very laid back person and have a sense of humor. He is more then willing to help out and explain things in details.

Class was really boring, but he tried to make it as interesting as he could. Attendance isn't mandatory but he basically gave you any answer you needed for the tests in his lectures so if you take notes youre fine. and don't buy the book he "close reads" every play and story in class so if you plan on attending don't bother with the book.

Great class to fulfill a humanities requirement. The book is required and all short stories and poems come out of the book. It is overall an easy class if you go to class and read the required short stories and poems.

Really helpful and nice! Attendance is optional, but obviously the tests are easier if you go to class. I was in a larger class so we only had 4 tests which are multiple choice. His smaller sections have quizzes AND tests. We had the option of writing an extra credit paper. Overall, the class is easy if you do the readings and take notes in class.
