This class is a lot of work. About 5 papers/projects with a huge final debate at the end which is rough. Plus- easily gives out extensions if asked. But I feel I have learned nothing from this class. I would NOT recommend this class

He is an awesome teacher and I looked forward to class each week. I found myself thinking about lectures even after class because of how exciting they were. He grades easy, especially if you put your heart into your work. Best teacher I have had at penn state: would absolutely recommend.. especially CAS 271.

Don't ever take a class with Jackson. I agree with the other posts that are saying he has unclear expectations. He takes points off for no reason and tries to appear laid back even though he definitely isn't. He never teaches and makes his students and other random presenters do all the work for him. One of the worst classes ever.

dr jackson doesn't teach, but makes his students read chapters and do reports on them so he doesn't have to prepare lesson plans. this could be an interesting class; he spends time on topics that don't matter, and then rushes through the interesting stuff. take this class if you have a photographic memory and don't mind doing the prof's work.

I got an A- in the class, but I didn't like his teaching style. He never told you what to do/what not to do so you'd get points off on speeches for reasons you never knew about. Disorganized and vague teaching.

Dr. J is a great teacher...i don't know why all these other posts are so negative. he's very helpful, friendly and willing to help. he is sensitive to the speech anxiety you might have and helps you overcome it. overall, he is a really nice person.
