Pitcock is known as one of the top professors on campus and inside the classroom his class is top notch. He was a tad slow w/ grading, and there was a lot of work. Weekly writing prompts, 3 ethnographies, and a final paper/presentation. Take this class for the interesting material and to get to know him, but keep the other stuff in mind.

Best professor and course I took at TCU. I learned to solve difficult problems that impact real lives. What I learned mattered more than the grade. Its a lot of work and being in class with people not concerned about grades helped make the class better. Pitcock is caring but will let you struggle with difficult questions: he will not make it easy.

I was expecting way more from this class, but it sadly didn't live up to the hype. It was hard to get over his arrogance. You can work your hardest in this course or you can do nothing, both will end up with an A. Super frustrating if you actually tried in the course. The work was meaningless, although the actual process was interesting.

I'll take any class DP teaches because he motivates me to be a better student & person. Class time moves quickly, and I've never had a professor push me to think, talk, or read as much. He graded our first paper & then met with every student for 30 min to explain comments and grades. Other teachers hand back at the end of class and run away scared

Dr. P is such an amazing professor/role model. I have studied abroad with him as well as taken this course and on the spring break trip that accompanies this course. this course is heavy reading, but lectures are engaging and fun. do NOT take this class if you don't plan on doing the work. You MUST do the work, but it will pay off.

I was really intimidated to take Dr. P's class based on the amount of reading but he makes it so worth it. He is so intelligent and funny, and he cares about his students. He makes you see things in a different light. His Cultural Memory class changed my view of the world. If you ever have the opportunity to take one of his classes, JUST DO IT

Dr. Pitcock is, hands-down, the best teacher I have ever had. Seriously, he's the epitome of the perfect teacher. He's serious about what he teaches, so you can't be a "slacker", but as long as you participate and he knows you're trying, then you will be good! He'll make you actually look forward to each and every class!

Phenom professor & even better human being. Class organization was so smart and timely. He made me want to participate and do all of the work and the class required a lot. Dr. P is the smartest in the room but he never makes that an issue or makes students feel subpar. He is uncanny at teaching you how to make connections and think through issues.

This is a non-graded class, but it was THE BEST class I took freshman first semester. Dr. P taught me how to make an ePortfolio but he taught me so much about life. I feel like a better college student, a better version of myself, and I formed goals for the future with his guidance. If you're lucky enough to get him freshman year DO IT

I visited TCU and heard Dr. Pitcock speak. He was amazing and seemed to really know his students. I've been at TCU for a year, and he continues to impress me. He works to know as many students as possible and everyone loves him. He often talks about being authentic. That's what he is! I hope to take a class with him someday but they fill quickly.

Dr. P is I'd say one of the best professors around. The assigned readings for his class were challenging and I went into the discussions having only a 40% clarity of the reading. But just give the man and hour and twenty minutes. At the end of the class, you'll be sitting there wondering how he made that idea so easy to understand. AMAZING!

My favorite professor! I took four courses with Dr. P and wish I could have taken more because I learned so much. He's honest, hardworking, and loves teaching. He will challenge you with difficult question. He really embodies everything about TCU. This is why he's one of the best 300 profs in US! Two years after graduation, he's still my mentor.

The best!!! I've taken multiple courses with Dr. Pitcock and have loved each and every one of them. He really cares about each student and does eveything he can to help them out. However, he expects it to be a two way street, so he'll call you out if he notices you not putting in the effort. Super nice, honest, down to earth guy. Again, the best!

Nature of values was the most fun class I've taken and my first class with Pitcock. I will try and take him again before I leave TCU because it was so enjoyable and he is such an awesome professor.
