Dr. Widera is the best chem instructor @ LBCC. His lecture topics are what's exactly on the exams. Students that whine about him being boring or hard are just lazy. Chemistry is not an easy subject and you really have to study hard if you want to understand the material. Too bad this will be Dr. Widera's last semester.

Do not take him. Sure, he jokes around a lot and grades on a curve but his lectures are HORRENDOUS. He talks low and does not even explain anything. You will have a very hard time in this class (THE EXAMS WILL KILL YOU) and it will not be enjoyable. I ended up dropping the class because he doesn't explain any of the material sufficiently.

Good teacher...loves the simpsons. helpful. weird sense of humor. exams are very very hard. i bareley got 50% on the final. he used the curve method to grade us so i got an A (-). Take him. i like him better than dr perrot (too condescending)

it's offical. i hate chemistry after taking this class. for all those who said that he teaches better in o chem than in general chem are WRONG! it's exactly the same--BORING! i wish i took this class with someone else, but i am thankful for the curves.

i admit he got mood swings, but i've takin ochem at others university and wat you get out of his class is much more. you could never fall asleep in there and you reallie do learn from his lecture alone. pass the class with an A and use diff and old chem book and just went off his notes and old exams. he favor gurls a lil in conversation with, but very fair with his exams and his crazy class curves.... a 50 can easy be a C in his class.

Widera is great, he tells you whats on the tests, and gives you his old tests. His final was by far the most difficult test I've ever seen in my life, thank god for curves!

I've had Dr. Widera for three semesters now and I'd say that no one gets me into studying chemistry than he does. He is very considerate to students and is always there to help. I recommend taking him especially if you're a science major. He teaches O.Chem better too!

Widera should retire. He has a horrible attitude; he's disrespectful; he's irritating. I'm a very dedicated student, but his class he honestly the worst chemistry class I've ever taken. He's unorganized; he has to curve b/c his tests are unrealistic. I recommend Perrot. Widera is a basket case.

As long as you put a little effort into going over your notes and going over the practice test this class is easy. There is never any homework or projects, and lab always gets out hours early. He is also very funny in his own dry way. I am very sad he doesn't teach Chem 1 B

Easy A, but the dude is Bi-polar. Funny one minute, crazy, insane, mean the next. Stay on his good side by not talking to him, get the tests from the library and you'll be fine.

Great teacher! Extremely nice man, very funny and personable. His tests are not hard, especially if you do the practice exams he has on reserve in the library. And he curves every single test regardless of how well or poorly the class did as a whole.
