I like Dr. Wooten. He has stepped up since Ive known him. He is funny, kind, and very knowledgeable. However, sometimes his anger does get the best of him but generally, its tolerable.

Dr. Wooten is very knowledgeable, but very flaky and hard to pin down. I always felt slightly confused in his class because I wasn't sure what he was going for. He always seemed to get like 85% of the way there in his teachings, but never "took it home." He is very respected, kind, and funny. But, his teaching style wasn't for me.

I believe that he is an above average professor. He does have a major tendency to get on the "not practicing" soapbox. Honestly, the people who have poorly reviewed him were probably the reason why he lectures us on practicing. He expects you to do your part for the class, just like all teachers. He really is a nice guy. Just practice!

If you actually practice the music he is the greatest guy in the world, but if you do stuff that would typically get your fired in the real music world, then he will get on your case. He does tend to preach about things sometime, but he really makes the wind ensemble sound better than the orchestra.

He is by far the worst professor I've ever had. He borderline harasses his students and goes out of his way to make people feel bad. He is incredibly disorganized and will cancel rehearsals all the time. Most unprofessional person I have ever met. He should not be allowed to be an educator.

All of the negative comments are true here. He is a horrible teacher/person. His tests and classwork have nothing to do with his lessons. He should be fired for his racism and sexism. I would have avoided NIU if I knew I would have to deal with this man, and would tell anyone thinking of coming here for music ed. to think again. Horrible Man.

This guy is the worst teacher I have ever had. He contradicts himself constantly, he is unwilling to work with individual students' needs, and he's too opinionated in the fact that he'll mark you down if you say something that doesn't gel with his opinion. He also plays favorites.

Wow! I can't believe it! I registered for this class to just throw my money in the toilet, but OH YEAH!!!!!! THAT'S RIGHT!!!!!! IT'S A PREREQUISITE FOR ALL OF THE MUSIC EDUCATION COURSES!!!! What a trap, or should I say, butt fart flush of cash down Santa's Hand Toilet! The teaching is horrible and out of context! I didn't learn a SINGLE THING!!!!!

He is pretty much the worst teacher ever. He has no interest in what he is teaching, doesn't care about his students, and makes snap judgements about everyone. He grades completely unfairly. His grading scale is ridiculous and he takes joy in failing good students. The fact that this man is teaching students how to teach is terrifying.

Comment:

Capricious grading, reverse racism, favoritism, gossip, embarressment, name calling, and, of course, general screaming are Dr. Wooten's tools when teaching. If you have a problem with it, you fail. You don't fail just that class, but every other class you ever take with him. He dispises anything but blind faith in his teaching.
