As a graduation requirement, I had no interest in the class. But i'm glad i took her instead of some of the other professors because she is so easy. the test questions come straight from the review packet. The textbook was so expensive, and the labs were tedious and stupid...

This prof. is nice if your on her good side. she frowned upon you if u were late...the tests were exaclty like the study guides so this class is pretty easy if you glance those. Notes were not required to take. Labs were pointless & long. Hw was based on doin the assignmnets from the PRICEY textbook! so reccommend sharin book with some1 if you can

Very nice, and very easy...but you will fall asleep most days. Questions on test come directly word for word from worksheets with the same multiple choice options. Lab's are easy. Textbooks are very very pricey & you must have most current edition. If you want an easy grade, she's your teacher, but I would not recomend her if your a computer major

This class is very VERY easy. If you do all of the labs and study for the tests, you are GOLDEN! Her tests are so easy. They are identical to the studyguides! I got 2 100% in a row. If you need to take COSC101 TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! You will not regret it. Plus she is a very nice lady and so pleasant to be around.

I had shumba for lbst-499 and it was a piece of cake. There was no textbook used, 5 group assignments and a few simple individual assignments. Easy A. I would recommend taking this class online to anyone.

She does not teach this class in a useful way. Slides in power point filled with useless, misspelled, contradictory information. Unclear class examples with random plagerized handouts. Worst of all is how she grades her tests, she grades based on your memorization of useless terms and diagrams, not on if you show you learned something.

I am in hers COSC 432 right now, and I love that class. Dr Shumba is one of the best teachers at IUP. She is extremely helpful and polite, and the students are always welcome to her office. She is like a good prof suppose to be, she expects you to learn, not only get a bunch of A:s. I recommend her.

Software engineering is one of the most important classes for a computer science major. It's a shame someone as incompetent as this woman is the person in charge of teaching it at IUP. If you're a computer science major or plan to become one, you may want to have a plan to transfer out of IUP instead of taking COSC 319 with Shumba. It's a waste.

No matter what answer you give, she says "Yes... good... uh huh... yes..." Even if she asks for the 4 main points, somehow she says yes to about 10 so you don't know what the real answer. Do the work and go through the motions and you'll get by, but you won't learn a thing in the end. I'd say don't take her, but she's the only one who teaches it
