The man knows his stuff, and he expects you to know it too when you leave. He demands you dig in. There is no kindergarten rope offered to you. If you give a real effort, show up, and participate, it will be reflected in your grade regardless.

Please Please aviod this teacher. He is extremely unclear about his expectation. He contradicts himself and his tests contractict the lectures. 3/4 of my class failed! He is unwilling to help. I went to him for help 5 times & he told me "If you don't understand my teaching you should drop the class and retake it with another professor".

This was by far the toughest Ed course I have taken but Van Horn is a good professor. His grading scale is tough, but he is always willing to help during office hours.

Probably the worst professor I've had in my entire college career. I wish somebody told me to never take him because that it what I want everyone to know! He's everything your other education professors tell you not to be. He reeks of cigarettes & he tells stories of his career with a pompous attitude. He blew me off with a hand wave and guff. Jerk

Terrible professor. He always let us out early, but when you asked him a question, he was always right. He changes his mind and is very unclear on a lot of things. The quizzes are average difficulty, but he puts subjective questions on there. CT 1 allowed for redo, but he lost mine twice and contradicted himself in grading. DO NOT TAKE HIM!

Take White or Weber, if you want to learn something. He contradicted himself, gave unreliable tests, and at one time he told me "I can't help you". He is teaching future teachers and is a terrible example of one, I will NEVER say that to a student.

Critical Task allowed for 1 redo. 31 out of 33 students failed had to redo assignment. When we asked what the problem was, he responded, you should know what you did wrong. Absolutely useless, teaches using outdated methods. Hypocrite, instructs you to teach one way, while he teaching in another. take someone else, you will struggle in this class!

Awful teacher. Do not take him if you have another option. I've made straight C's in his class while I have straight A's in all of my other classes. He resents his students and does not make an effort to help you understand what you need to do. Tough grader, doesn't seem to know what he wants, he's getting old. AWFUL CLASS!

Try to take someone else if possible. He only shows examples on power point and doesn't teach anything. The quizzes are tough very tough and he will yell at you if you do poorly on the test. If at all possible you really should take someone else.

This class is not very enjoyable, and Dr. Van Horn is always very condescending. If you ask for clarity on a statement, he will just keep repeating himself, not actually rephrasing it to help you. Don't even bother asking for an explanation of a quiz question, because he will probably cut you off and tell you why you're wrong. Take someone else!
