Dr. Briggs is an awesome guy, and clearly loves what he does. This class is extremely challenging, and there is no opportunity for extra credit. There is also no curve! Don't try and glide through this class, this is just about the only class I have actually had to try really hard for at ESF.

Dr. Briggs is really good at explaining things. He is also one of the most friendly and entertaining professors on campus. FOR 345-intro to soils- is not an easy class though and you have to study a lot in order to get a good grade.

Excellent professor, cares about his students and is extremely helpful even outside of the classroom. Goes to all outdoor labs, which are most of them. Really interesting class that covers tons of information, should be 4 credits. Definitely go to test files, but the final is really hard and integrates everything learned.

Dr Briggs is excellent. Logical format and flow. Patient in lab with questions. Labs reinforce classroom lectures. If you go to ESF you NEED to take this class. His humor can be a little dry/corny at times but his class is top notch

I found him to be very unclear as to what was important in this class. Soils are extremely complex systems... he could have been alot more careful in his teaching. Other than that, he was great and extremely entertaining. Wait till (no pun intended) the last day of class.
