Dr. Perkin has such a kind heart, he is always willing to provide an extension if you ask in advance or further clarification. He has a very calming voice so if you have a 10 am class with him bring a coffee, but his lectures and readings are really interesting! As long as you put the effort in you should be able to score a good grade

Professor Perkin is a very good professor. He doesn't put anyone on the spot to feel uncomfortable in class. His learning environment is very welcoming. He may seem dry at times, but his personality allows for interesting listening and good discussions. He knows his stuff, and is very kind.

Comment:

Russell Perkin is a wonderful professor! Sometimes the material can be dry, but he teaches it in a way that you're not dozing off during lecture. Doesn't really use/upload slides, but you also don't need to take a ton of notes if you just go to class and keep up w/ the readings. Makes funny little remarks and references to keep things light. :)

Best Prof ever!!! He knows what he is talking about in class. He is a fair marker and will give clear outline of tests and exams. He makes the literature classes enjoyable. He is an approachable, respecting professor, and a British gentleman. His teaching material are reasonable and well-organized. I would like to take his course again!!!

Although I don't usually like English, Dr. Perkin made it interesting. He provides really good literature to read, and his old style of humor makes the class enjoyable. You do actually have to read the material if you want good grades though, but it was never a lot.

Great English prof! Cares about his students and has a clear interest in what he teaches. Picks pretty good books and great poems. Very clear lectures and tells you exactly what to expect on assessments. Only had to write one formal paper all semester which was nice. Really nice guy and awesome prof. Would definitely take again!

Had a good sense of humor, understood that students are stressed out at times. Took time out of lectures to show video clips to help the understanding of what was being discussed. Need to put in effort if you want a good grade. Novels chosen were interesting for the most part!

Dr. Perkin is an awesome professor! The tests are so easy if you just pay attention to what he's talking about (he KNOWS what he's talking about). He's got a story for everything and he's really nice with marking!

Great prof and class. You definitely DO have to do the readings. The tests and quizzes are easy if you do the readings, come to class, and pay attention. I got caught out on the test for skimming instead of reading, so be warned: not a bird course. His lecturing style is interesting, too!

Definitely one of my favourite professors at Saint Mary's. If you do the work and readings and attend class you WILL get a good mark. He is a very fair marker and you will definitely get the mark that you deserve. You get out of the class what you put into it. He's also really funny and doesn't seem to know it, which makes him even better.
