Ruth was all great things people mentioned in previous posts...if you were one of her favorites. Be sure to use phrases like "corporate leeches raping the third world" and act interested, though it's an extremely hard thing to do in a class as boring as hers. She'll like you if she thinks you like her and her assignments. Redheads will do well.

Ruth Hoffman is a very passionate and ecstatic teacher, but unfortunately the courses she teaches are basic core writing classes for the respective colleges. The core course was drawn out and could have been completed in half of a quarter, but Ruth's presentation of the material was interesting. High school type class and Ruth handled it well.

Terribly unprofessional. Started out as interesting but quickly developed a bad side. Clearly plays favorites with students and grades accordingly and unfairly. For a writing class, I learned suprisingly little about writing. It's mostly teach yourself and do it until you get it right unless you go way out of your way to talk to her.Bad teacher

I think this class would be more interesting if it were based in the text more than on the opinions of Ruth and the students in the class. A lot of times it feels as if people in this class are spewing things without any evidence. She's a good teacher, but a bit opinionated.

This class was so easy. There wasn't much to teach in this class. She did a good job organizing everything. She graded easily too. I got an A on my research paper that I pulled out of my ass 5 hours before I turned it in. Good times with the ****ting. Anyhoo, I recommend her.

ruth made getting through a 25 page paper my freshman year fun and easy. so if you're looking at a two quarter core don't fear it. as odd as it sounds, i enjoyed writing the darn thing. she's enthusiastic, willing to help, and sweet.

Favors certain students, mainly the loud ones who talk a lot about nothing--she likes them the best and it shows. Didn't get an A even though I did all the work and didn't BS stuff like reading responses, because I didn't say much. Oral finals suck, too.
