She is definetely knows her children's lit. If you don't like to give oral presentatins, though-I wouldn't take it. The midterm essay was only 4 pages, and the final, she gives the option to write a lesson plan. You only read 4 novels, so it is not time consuming.

She is very nice and the course work is reasonable except the midterm and the final. I found them overwhelming.

Comment:
Prof. Goswami is nice, but the material covered in this class is diappointing. Instead of reading great works from around the world, the material is limited to post-colonial lit. The majority of reading therefore is depressing & doesn't qualify as great by literary standards. Prof. Goswami is subdued & w/o stimulating reading, the class was boring.

Overall, I enjoyed the class, but two things about it bugged me. 1. Professor Goswami does not write anything on your essays for improvement, just the grade, and 2. taking it one day a week for 3 hours sucked. She can be a bit boring at times. However, I believe if you take her twice a week for the 1hr 15 min class, it would be better.

The quizes are on the picky details. You will not get comments on how your answer might be better stated on an exam and no discussion in class either. I could not see reasoning in how she grades. I got better grades with less effort than when I worked my hardest. Presentations are the easiest part.

Good class and interesting work in what could be a very dull subject.

She enjoys Wind in the Willows, which you have to read, and she quizzes you on names of characters that seem irrelavent. The projects and presentations are easy, though.

She gives interesting lectures but tests on petty details that are irrelevant.
