You must take this teacher! She is passionate and knowledgeable about the subject. Tells you word for word what she looks for and what you should expect. Took two tests and conducted two 5 page research projects/ one quantitative and qualitative. You must study for the tests and write good papers. Can be an easy class if you give it 100%

This class, I think, is one of the most interesting Soc classes especially because there aren't any tests and each semester, she chooses a different subject. It's a research class so you spend the whole semester researching - better than studying!

2 long papers, one an interview paper the other observational. she is pretty clear on what she wants in her papers, but does grade hard. very nice lady and appreciates class participation. group assignments all the time, tons of assigned reading but she will tell you what parts to pay attention too, attendance required

Comment:

Cool teacher. Strict, but understanding. If you need to turn in something late, better have an excellent and I mean excellent excuse. Dresses conservatively even though she is bone skinny. Nice lady. Would take her again for sure. Not easy at all but very good about helping in advance, but don't wait til the last minute and go to her.

At first I was dreading this class but the teacher actually managed to make it pretty interesting. True, she can be a bit dull at times and she never lets class out early, but overall she was a very good teacher. She does make you work for your grade, but it's nothing too hard and she let's you know exactly what's expected and will help if you ask.

overall class isnt hard. papers-long.LOTS of reading. she's very nice, very clear. understanding. do the work... and do it well. attendance counts. gave small EC. assignments:2 interviews,2transcripts, 1 people watching, 2 bigger papers, groups-get people you know that work well. dont b nervous w/ interviews..learn from class & books. good class!

This class was more work than I thought, but also easier than I thought because the teacher is very clear in what she expects. She's interesting and grades fairly. The class is a bit of work, but I'd still recommend taking this class. She's a good teacher, which is hard to find.

It's not an easy class but she clarifies everything for you. Papers are long but this is the one class where you'll have so much info you won't be able to fit it all! I loved that she was kind and understanding of her students. She loves to help people. No tests, strictly readings and papers. Oh yeah, she's a walking Nordstrom ad! Loved the shoes!

Netzley has an amazing class. She is very kind, insightful, and wants her students to succeed. Not the easiest class because she hands out 8-page papers like they are candy, so you'll have to keep up with the readings and papers. No tests and no quizzes. Highly recommend this class! Complete 180 from R. Werner's horrible classes.

So nice! not intimidating at all, makes the subject matter fun and very easygoing style of teaching yet she assigns a lot of work. Definitely recommend 408 with her for the Soc. major prerequisite instead of 407 with Kolody!!!!!!!!!!

This class is NOT easy. There is a 15 pg. paper, 2 five page papers, 2 15 pg. transcripts, 5 pages of field notes, and a book critique. There is a ton of work and you only get the assignments a week before they're due. Nice teacher, but WAY too much work if you're a full time student.

She is very helpful and although this class is lots of work, she is clear with what she expects and tells you exactly what to put in your essays. The hardest part of class is writing the paper at the end, don't wait till the last week of class, you'll regret it!

She was very helpful. Lectures were organized and clear and readings were very useful to the subject matter and writing your own paper. Did lots of small group exercises that made writing the paper easy. Take home essay tests. Class gets out early alot.
