Comment:
It surprises me that people have classified Sam as "caring." I will say that he cares very much about his reputation and about the quality of the films that come out of his class, but he places these values above the physical and mental well-being of his students. I would highly recommend avoiding him at all costs (save yourself don't take prod 3).

Comment:
Oh Sam. What a character. He's super nice and wants to help, but is quite opinionated and not always in the best way. That being said, he never attacks you and is always nice with his criticism. But he definitely has his opinions, and they are typically against anything abstract or inventive. Nice guy, easy grader.

Sam Kauffmann is one of the best professors I've had a BU, and Production III is hands down the best course I took at BU. The course is incredible, and Kauffmann will do everything in his power to help his students in anyway possible. This course, which he invented, allows BU students and their films to truly stand out. Can't recommend highly enough

Any teacher can BS about the creative--being artsy is easy. What's hard is achieving technical excellence, and that's what Sam teaches in his classes. He teaches students to be meticulous down to the tiniest detail, which is the MOST valuable thing you can take to a professional career in film production.

Picks favorites, no creative eye at all so don't even try to go artsy, nice enough guy though. I hate his guts still cause he hardly cares and teaches you nothing really. All he wants is for you to buy his editing book.

I genuinley like Sam. He cared alot about helping out in class and with excercises but when it came to helping me out with my EXPENSIVE final film, I was pretty much left on my own. I could have used someone to answer a few practical questions. Good teacher, maybe just a little distracted sometimes!

I'm sorry, but has anyone here actually seen "Gaffer's Delight"? Remind me again why Kauffman is teaching us filmmaking?

I wish we could find a real filmmaker to teach in his place. If it was all mathematics, he'd be on point, but no creative drive what so ever.
