Comment:

I was concerned taking a class with Dr Shina after reading reviews but he's actually a great professor. The material was a bit tough but he gave great examples and really helped everyone understand. He was fantastic about grading, giving partial credit for having the idea down. He is more than fair with grading and I learned a TON in his class.

Comment:

He's a good guy and is eager to talk about his industry experience. See him if you're having trouble finding work. I just wish his experience translated to the classroom better. I passed the class without adequately understanding how shops implement Six Sigma and lean mfg principles. Projects referring to specific tooling examples would help...

Comment:

Sammy Shina is by far the most condescending human I have ever met. He uses the course as a pulpit to talk about his own success in industry and his clearly aged view when it comes to working as an engineer. The material is important which makes this professor's inability to teach that much more of a detriment.

Comment:

Prof Shina knows the material well but does not always do a good job of teaching it. The weekly reading and HW had tons of typos and incorrect information, very confusing, I wish he would revise them! The homeworks took many hours (worst week took 12 hours), and it is mostly self taught from the reading, but do-able. Plan to spend a lot of time!

I took DoE online with this guy....horrible decision! He posted notes, examples, slides that contradicted one another. His "book" was just a bunch of example reports he wrote for industry that really didn't explain how to solve the problems. His HW for week X (say 3) would say please reference week Y (say 10 to complete this problem. Awful.

I have to admit that his guy was pretty good and knows what he says and the material. He does his best to get students to find internships anc co-ops. Only thing that could use a little bit of improvement is the textbook which barely made the class any harder since my ta for his lab helped out a lot. always go to lab on time. lectures are good too.

Grades easily, but sometimes teaches the old fashioned way. Talks a lot about what happened 10-15 years ago with his HP gig. Way he teaches is a bit unclear; have had some review material and he just makes things more complicated than they need to be.

Really qualified in his field. Easy grader and work. Enjoyed his class very much. Didn't learn anything really solid but he was just fullfilling the requirement of teaching us to use Microsoft Office. His class is my world because there's a cute guy I like in it. (sill i know)
