Professor Dixon is a nice woman with good intentions. However, she treated us as if we were children incapable of understanding basic instructions. It was very frustrating at times, especially considering she graded our work very harshly

Very few ASEMs are good classes, so this is your usual reading and writing class although it might be better than most. Professor Dixon is very nice, albeit a bit disorganized and slow with grading. We had about 6 papers so it felt like a lot and the topics were really repetitive. I wasn't interested in the books we read, but good class overall.

Comment:
Sandy's teaching style isn't for everyone. She's very low key, encourages group and art projects in class for kinesthetic learners, etc. If you're a type A individual, she probably isn't for you. But she is one of the kindest and most intelligent women i have had the privilege to study with. She knows her stuff.

Professor Dixon is a caring and kind person, but she is not suited to teaching. She lectures on and on, and has designed her ASEM "Do The Wicked Prosper" as a really strange way to compare philosophy to economics. Her course description is not at all accurate; it is not a literature class.

Dixon is very sweet and means well. Although the rest of these reviews are accurate when they say the class is BORING. It's a pretty easy A if you know how to write well.

Very caring teacher. Goes out of her away to make sure you are understanding the material. She loves what she teaches. Her lectures can get boring, but she is very nice. Very approachable and tries to be as available as possible outside of class. Not too hard either

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! It is extremely boring. The lectures are not structured at all. It is impossible to follow and she makes it impossible to know what is on tests. If i did not have my computer I would have died. This is not worth your time, I promise.

If I had one day to live, I would spend in this class because it feels like an eternity. It feels like I'm taking a remedial english class... and it's impossible to stay awake. Listen to fellow reviewers and don't take this class. Oh, and if she calls herself a "scholar" one more time, I may just go crazy.

This was by far the worst class I have had at DU. Although she is really nice, the class is very boring! The lectures are unorganized and hard to follow. You have to do art projects and then presentations on them. It reminded me of 6th grade. DONT TAKE THIS CLASS

A great teacher. Takes the time to make sure students understand concepts, inside and outside class. Could lecture all class on that day's topic with insight and attention to complimentary subjects, but does not and includes ample time for discussion and student imput. I have taken 2 classes with her and would take more if I had the electives.
