Comment:
Due dates, assignments and quizzes tended to get off track, but she is an easy grader. What I felt was C work, I usually received an A or B. Be ready to read/follow 5 novels. Final paper had nothing to do with those novels, but she was easy to communicate with about a topic and thesis. She was alright, but I probably won't take her again.

Sandy is one of the very best professors I have had at EMU. If you like overly structured classes that stricty follow the syllabus, then you should probably choose another professor. But, if you enjoy great discussions and a relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere, then this professor is for you. Professor Norton is the best! EMU is lucky to have her!

I took her class as a freshmen and she screwed me over. I contracted the class for honors and she broke it at the last minute. I taught two classes that semester, one on feminism which I had to learn on my own and one on poetry. She looks down her nose at everyone and had us watch a movie which set us three weeks behind. AVOID HER AT ALL COSTS

She is scatter brained. That's the best way to say it. she comes into class and gives this feeling of "flying by the seat of your pants." Then to top it off she will jump onto rants about things like 3rd wave feminism. Assign papers about things that she stresses "we are NOT to look up."

She's crazy. She can be fun, but she's so dramatic - she belongs in a high school drama club. She strongly believes in her opinions about work, will hear your opinion, but hers is correct on the tests. I'm pretty sure not all poetry should be read the way she reads it (loud, dramatic). She changed the syllabus about 6 times too. It was awful.

An overall good prof. with a very good knowledge of the material. Despite including her hippie communist ideals into the subject matter she is a relatively easy prof. and it doesn't take much to succeed in her class.

I go to every class, and all she does is read verbatim from the book. No idea what's going on. The Bressler textbook is one big circle jerk of 'I went to Berkeley' type people. Boring, useless, and angry that I would criticize Jane Eyre as a book, (I realize the irony, since the class is in criticism), avoid Mrs. Norton. AVOID HER!

I've only been in the class for two days, but I can already tell she is a nutcase. I would switch but unfortunatley there are no other classes open. If you ever have a choice, do not choose her.

Well, I took this class last semester and I still do not have a posted grade for it. The grades were due about a month ago, and my class grade is still an N. The most unorganized teacher or "professor" I've ever met. The class was a big question mark each week. All I want is my grade and I still do not have one. Terrible.

Did not enjoy the class at all. She was very elaborate in her reading, and went off topic WAY TOO MUCH! Changed the syllabus at times and expect to remember a TON of stuff! READ! READ! READ! DO THE READING!

Unfortunately, Sandy Norton is one of the worst professors I have ever had. She is uninteresting, frequently over ten minutes late to class, disorganized, never responds to e-mails, and likes to cut her students off while they're making a point. She has also cancelled class twice in a seven week course. Please avoid this professor at all cost.

Worst class I have ever taken. It's not that it is a hard class, I'm getting an A, but it is a total waste of my time and money. I have not learned one thing. It takes oven a month to get a paper back or she might lose your paper. If you want an easy A take her, but if you want to learn something take someone else.

very DISORGANIZED!!! expects a lot, teaches VERY LITTLE..tests are irrelivant to the class, hope you have a GREAT memory, because thats all the exams consist of (remembering names of authors and complete titles from 100s of storys read in the text. HAS NO IDEA WHAT SHE IS DOING, WROTE THE EXAMS RIGHT BEFORE CLASS< NICE BUT CLUELESS<

Had her before and liked her but after last experience with her scatter brain/attitude, I was not happy. The project we worked on all term ended up accepted but largely dismissed...never tried to return it to us or give us feedback/grade through email..Did she not care? Gave her benefit of doubt too often..Just avoid!

I realize I can only give one person the dubious honor of being the WORST professor I've ever had. That award goes unequivocally to Sandy Norton. She's disorganized, inconsistent, unclear, unhelpful, and often absent/late. While she knows her topic, she has NO teaching skills. Within 2 weeks, literally half my class dropped out-- I wish I had!

Dr. Norton knew the material she was teaching, however, she was completely unorganized, cancelled two classes in a seven week course, and never returned any of out assignments. She cancelled out final exam, leaving our final paper to count for 60% of our final grade! She is a nice woman and has good intentions, but a horrible horrible teacher.
