Hes an interesting professor. He thinks that he is cool and funny, when he is just being dumb. Also, hes not that great of a writer. He thinks that other people cant measure up to his success when he is still teaching at UMaine and talking about how he didnt make it. Classes are mandatory, but they are a complete waste of time, you learn nothing.

U-Maine doesn't realize how lucky they are to have this guy teaching. I absolutely dread English classes, but Prof. Phippen made this 300-level English very enjoyable. His stories through the class make the 3 hour lectures possible. Thank you Phippen, you're one of the best.

This is the best professor ever! Phippen actually teaches you how to express yourself in writing, he reads papers aloud so everyone can hear, which was fun. He is so funny, always making you laugh with his funny Maine accent and stories.I am taking another class with him this fall(Hitchcock films) and can't wait! Phippen Rocks!

One of the most enjoyable classes I have ever taken. He always has a funny story (or 5). He also made making the material enjoyable his highest priority. He is very absentminded sometimes, often setting aside a paper to read aloud and then forgetting where it is, but this usually added to the humor of his class.

This guy cracked me up every class without fail. Good class overall, but you have to blaze through 6 books until you get to his own book at the end of the semester, which he seems to care more about us enjoying/learning from than any of the others. But take this class just to hear his stories, becaue it's worth it for that alone.

This guy's awesome. I love his class. His stories are hilarious; the time goes by so fast. Writing for him is actually fun, and I really enjoy it, unlike my other eng. classes. He's been thru everything & will tell you all about it. He brings in guest speakers, & we watch cool movies. Take it, it's such a relief if you are taking all hard courses.

Does not know anything about technical writing.Very opinionated.He has to like you to get a good grade.He had never been clear on tasks, never remembered what requirements of the course were, did not care.Total waste of time and money! Very unplasant once you get to know him, each class is a class of stories from his life, sometimes unethical.
