Professor Farmer is a passionate and intelligent professor who very clearly lays out what she expects from the course. Definitely show up to lecture and discussion as attendance is mandatory there. Her midterm exam is fair and she makes you write a final essay instead of taking a final written in-class exam. Overall, a good and very fair professor

Dr. Farmer is very passionate. She really strives to help students understand the real meaning of history by choosing readings that are thought-provoking and informative. She really cares about grammar (especially semicolons), but that shouldn't be a problem because she cares more about substance and content. Nice, calm prof and interesting course.

Not one of the best. She goes on and on and on, without stopping to realize the students have turned her out. The subject of Modern France is interesting, but man she takes the fun out of history and everything that has to with France. I love history and all histories, but she ruined it for me. I got a B+ because of grammar not content. WTF

I took both France in the 19th and 20th Century. One of the classes, she had a study guide (got an A) the other class she did not (got an A-). For essays, really make sure you stick to the prompt and that you CHECK YOUR GRAMMAR; SIGNIFICANCE for IDs. I love France, topics are interesting. The exams are fair if you read and study potential IDs.

GO TO CLASS! She is a boring lecturer, however in order to do well in the class you must go to lecture and you must take notes because her powerpoints don't give any information. Also definitely read the assigned readings it makes a world of difference for the exams. Papers were graded by TA's so make nice with them. Not a bad class.

Interesting Material. Can tell she's passionate about Paris. Delivery was unclear and scattered. VERY picky grader. wouldn't take another class with her. talks about interesting things in class but she focused on little things that were irrelevant to material on exams.

Disorganized and uninspiring. She managed to make World War 1 a boring class not to mention awkward with long moments of silence. Her readings are only somewhat interesting considering the vast amounts of more gripping material. Also she is a tough grader

Ok overall. Lots of information and very knowledgeable but it's sort of overload. Lectures go on and on, and lots of reading for minimal impact. Honestly this classes was more than I bargained for. She's an interesting person and obviously passionate about the topics but everything was weighted down by tons of detail for the simplest of ideas.

Honestly I love WWII, I don't love this class. Course readers are the first sign of unfiltered lecturing. Farmer provides alot of information (which is fine) but fails at providing a clear context in which it all belongs. I personally wouldn't take a class from her again. The History Channel does a better and clearer job than she does IMHO.

Interesting approach to WWII era. She tried to avoid alot of the battles. She leans more toward contemporary rural european stuff, france esp. Her lectures are each like an essay that she wrote and she goes fast. Not alot of reading for a history class. Get a good TA.

Her class was pretty easy. There were two papers: one was only 2 pages, the second one 5-6. Midterm and final were also fairly easy, assuming you go to lecture and do most of the readings. Her lectures can be a bit boring difficult to follow. Overall, though, a good teacher and a fun class.

She's very sweet and is obviously very knowledgeable, but her lectures are a little scattered and Powerpoint is not consistent. So she's a little disorganized, but the material is interesting and assignments/tests are very fair.

I liked her a lot. She's a great professor and very passionate. I personally didn't like her grading methods on the paper which can really hurt the over all grade. She is very helpful though if you go to see her or even call her.

Very easy class. Two novels to read that are a bit long, but still very interesting. Lectures are engaging. She's a nice woman who's very knowledgable and enthusiastic about French history - though she does like the French a bit too much.

easy class. lectures cover everything you need to know. readings are interesting and easy. she's very knowledgable about the subject. although her lectures could be unclear at times, if you pay attention and take notes it should be no problem.

I thought she was pretty easy. Midterms and final questions were predictable if you did the reading and took notes. Her lectures are disorganized but if you do the readings, you'll organize the notes from the class more easily.
