Comment:

Chem 12 is a weed-out course for aspiring chemists, physicists, and engineers. Do not expect to be spoon fed. Dr. Felty presents the material to you, but he does not understand it for you. He explains concepts in greater detail if you ask him. Some humor during lectures. I enjoyed Chem 12/13/14/15 with Dr. Felty (1988-1990).

Comment:

Chemistry is a difficult subject to teach. He tried to keep it fun and interesting, but it was up to the students to put the time in and actually learn the material. I feel as though the tests were a bit difficult, but again, if students would have prepared they would have done a good job.

Tests are multiple choice, but he purposely makes the questions hard with trick answers inserted. Class test averages were 30 to 50s. Very strict grader. Not one "A" grade given out after finals.

I was a chemistry major when I entered into college, with such an excitement. I took a year of his courses, and he made me detest it so much, I changed majors. I felt very discouraged by taking his courses.

Very unclear and unable to communicate with students. If you never had highschool chem, the class is definately impossible to pass, even though a passing grade is anything better than a 38. With a class average of 42%, I think he's doing something wrong.

I wouldn't let this guy teach my dog tricks if u know what i mean. He cant teach,u are better off going up to Lorna CHin in the learning center while u have class and get help. It makes no sense to attend class, u learn nothing from it. He can't TEACH****

This class is next to impossible with Felty teaching....he realy is no help at all and the class average is about a 40%.....is this the markings of a good teacher and all 5's???? I don't think so!

He flys through the material and doesn't offer any help at all. His tests are on 4 chapters at a time and they are extremely impossible. The normal class average on a test is about 45%. He should not be allowed to teach.
