One of the most thought-provoking profs I had at Dal. She makes students think critically about how history is done, what history is, and challenges students to question their preconceived notions about history. Having said that, she also has high expectations, so she's not for the squeamish and not an easy A.

Most classes are set up for debating, and tons of discussion. DO THE READINGS! She's not an easy marker. Has a hilariousopinionated no-bs attitude. Has a lot to offer to people with an open mind to new philosophies and her post-modern philosophy will literally change the way you see history.

Dr. Corke is a phenomenal professor. Her classes, however, are not run of the mill. She is extremely approachable and it really matters to her that you care. While her approach to history may seem unique, she is not looking for you to agree with her; rather, she enjoys engaging in respective debate on varying opinions.

Her "there's no truth" thing gets annoying, but in an endearing sort of way. Class is all about discussion and debate, and people get to know each other by how much they have to talk. She respects everyone as long as they can back up what they say, which earns her a lot of respect. She grades toughly but fairly. All around a fun class to take.

Too much historiography, tests were ridiculous. She doesn't think facts exist. The one and only course I have ever dropped.

Not easy, but rewarding. Took a couple of classes with her, which really challenged me to think outside of the cookie cutter education a lot of other professors fall under at dal. Encourages discussion - rather, demands discussion. Really kept me engaged. I can say one thing for sure: only 9 am class i ever woke up for consistently.

Worst professor ever. Tries to be edgy and ground-breaking: she ends up confusing half the class and alienating the rest. She's egotistical and thinks that (quote) "there is no such thing as history". She taught a second year survey course like a 4th year seminar. Terrible.

A joke of a professor. Her lectures were ill planned. Her slides were full of typos and mistakes. She missed class one day simply because she forgot. Her assignments were juvenile and ill conceived. Attempted to dock marks on faulty technicalities. Took 40 days to mark an exam, and caused some students to miss scholarship deadlines.

Terrible prof. by far the worst I had in first year. She does not follow the course description and did not teach the actual history, but the historiography. assignments were pointless and juvenile

She started droning on about "no such thing as a fact" in the 2nd class it was clear that she was irritating. challenging students to come up with a factual statement, one said "an atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima", her response was that there were different time zones in the world. I'm here to learn about history, not debate semantics.

Not the most organized professor, but overall enjoyed her and her class. You MUST be interested in viewing history as a HISTORIOGRAPHY course. She was knowledgeable and it was very interesting. She is also extremely sympathetic to her students and wants them to do well so she's very helpful, just try to get to know her on a personal level.

Acceptable answers to tests were devised after the fact and partially based on her opinion. The entire class failed one question because apparently the use of quotation marks changes the entire meaning. Several classes missed with no real make up info. The course outline was barely a suggestion.

This was the first time this class was taught at Dal but I expected more thought to go into a course than what was put into History 1702. The marking scheme was constantly played with and too much weighting was given to silly and unrelated assignments; graphic depiction? DRAWING in a history course?!

Dr. Corke is nice and flexible with due-dates, but this course was not very well organized (supposed to be "History of the Americas," but mostly limited to her area of expertise in US history), the format of the exams was terrible (3 essays, usually on more obscure topics rather than the more important concepts) and assignments were juvenile.

The worst ever. Why is it that the least capable profs are always the most demanding? Must have something to prove. Terrible lectures, unreasonable expectations, shallow knowledge of subject matter. Horribly biased. avoid.
