Comment:

For a 500+ level class it is not that bad. Some proofs but mostly computational and conceptual questions. Prof Stahl is a decent teacher and provides his students with everything they need to know to be successful. Lectures not required but highly recommended. All around I enjoyed his class.

Comment:

Nice guy, boring lectures. He has a monotone voice, and moves very slow due to age. If there is a mistake on the board, you can only tell him that it's there. He has to find it and fix it himself. If you try and tell him where it is, he gets mad at you, and ignores you, slowing lectures even more. He writes textbooks- they're just as awkward.

Comment:

Professor Stahl truly cares about his students and their learning in his class. He gets very excited about math and it's very motivating and inspiring. Partial credit is tricky though, make sure to thoroughly think through every problem in his class.

I got him for Advanced Linear Algebra, He looked very disturbed when I ask a question that probably was too obvious for him. Not a good professor to ask questions

I had him for several classes. You really don't have to go to class, as everything he covers is directly from the book. Tests are directly from the homework, study the harder questions as one of them will be on the exam, but might be more abstract. He doesn't have faith in his students, I have never really been helped going to his office.

He goes through the material slowly and explains it well. Sometimes he does answer questions like they should be common sense, which could make someone feel dumb, but he doesnt mean anything by it and im sure he doesn't think differently of them... he screws up a lot on minor details so obviously no one is perfect.

He is tough, but really makes you think. If you take good notes, complete all homework assignments, and study for tests, you can do well. As a person he is really entertaining. His enthusiasm for the subject really helps the students focus.
