Dr. Schatz is one of the best professors at jeffstate. He has lots of bouns points to help you out with each test. He is fair. If you don't miss a class, you get 5% added to your final grade. I highly recommend him.

Very nice guy. He talks about his life a lot to give perspective to the students about economics. Memorize the 15 phrases he gives in the beginning of the class, they are on every test and you need to know them verbatim. Take good notes and go to class and every thing will be peachy. Speak up in class and professors care about you more :)

Overall he is a good professor, he is opinionated and his tests are tough if you don't study, but as long as you go to class and study, you'll pass with an A. He also gives lots of bonus!

Lectures the entire time. Handouts are to be printed off from BB and followed along with during class. He gives a certain list of quotes to memorize for each test--MAKE SURE TO DO THIS (it helps). Gives 6 tests, takes the highest 4. Perfect attendance is rewarded with 5 bonus points. I left this class feeling 0% knowledgable about Macroeconomics.

If you want to hear a guy pat himself on the back for being cheap, then this is a good class for you. Makes you memorize nonsensical quotes that have nothing to do with economics for the tests. It's more about how he has saved money over his life than actual material.

I have now taken Dr. Schatz for both ECON 231 and 232 both times received and A, during this fall I passed his class and was finished with it November 8th, so I didn't have to go back for the rest of the semester or the final. Just study everything he gives you in the notes and book.

Dr. Schatz gives 6 exams but only takes 4 highest exam grades. No HW. If you study for each exam then you'll be fine. Make sure to take good notes and pay attention during lecture. You can really learn a lot from him. I failed first exam because I didn't study then studied for the rest and came out with an A.

Do not take his class online. He might be the greatest instructor alive, but he gives the same outlines to his online students that he gives to his regular students and there is no benifit of a lecture to explain them. He deveates from the book a lot. I have a B, not because I undrstand the marterial, but because I can memorize his notes.

The first class consists of talk about global warming and how far polar bears can swim. He constantly laughs at things he says even if it's not a joke. His laugh isn't a lugh either, its more of a wheeze. He will let you know how awful you are at spending money and how is piece of trash car is the best thing on the road. Thinks we will be in jail.

I had him for Eco 232 and he was an easy A so I thought that'd be the case again with this class. WRONG! You need to attend EVERY class then study and practice the material BEFORE the next class if you plan to pass. Tests are are few and not that far between so you have to stay on top of studying if you don't want to panic on test day.

As long as you attend every class and study at least an hour for every class you go to, it's not that hard. No multiple choice on his tests, only matching and the rest are fill in the blank. Very political and spends 20 mins a day talking about how we don't study enough. Also belittles peoples' random personal finance choices like going out to eat.

Really great teacher, gives you the exact material that will be on the test and a lot of opportunity to make your grade better each test. If you do the work, you'll do great. You may not do that good on the first test, but seeing how the tests are formatted will help you on the rest. DO THE BONUS

issues 6 tests, only 4 count; lectures everyday, and never lets class out early, even if there is nothing to talk about. Offers up to 5 bonus points if you attend class every day class is scheduled. Class attendance is important because the things that he puts on the test will come from lectures. Teaching method is very outdated, so read ur book!

I enjoyed listening to the people in my class-who didn't like him-try to argue.very entertaining You must take notes. His class is easy if you just take notes and study exactly what he tells you.He will only take the 4 highest test grades out of 6,and gives bonus on the 1st 4. I failed 3 tests and still made a C. It's pretty hard to fail this class.

Dr. Schatz is not as hard as everyone is saying. He gives 6 exams (including the final) and only 4 of them count! So you can bomb two and you're ok. He is very clear about what's going to be on the test. Come to class, take notes, study and you will be fine.

Absolutely horrible teacher. Failed 3 tests and had to withdraw. Too much material, literally have to study a week in advance for every test to get a passing grade. I don't recommend this guy

he was an awesome teacher! i only studied for an hour or two at a time. use notecards to study and you will pass just fine. he is very eccentric and very frugal. he will not mind sharing his beliefs about cheapness with you. he is a great teacher and i would recommend him for economics.

He seems like he wants people to drop his class. Honestly i cant blame him he gets paid the the same for less work. I went to class everyday and its a hard class. the only reason i escaped with a B was because he adds five point to your semester average for not missing a day. If you want an A its manditory to study for at least 5 hours per exam.

He talks about economics in general and shares with us his point of view of government, which is a good thing because microeconomics can sometimes be boring.
