Comment:

I took Math 267 with Scott Hansen and his exams were way harder then all other professors teaching math 267. He was very vague and wrote with sharpie during lecture and when something was wrong he would scribble it all out. Overall hard to follow, curve was insane. IF you have to take him get a tutor I learned so much from mine.

Comment:

Dr. Hansen is a good professor. Linear Algebra is not difficult as long as you are willing to put the time in. I wish there were more proofs in this class; we did so many application problems! Dr. Hansen is in his office after class if you need help. The exams are pretty straightforward. Linear Algebra is a beautiful class! It shows up everywhere!!

Comment:

He knows the material well and does a good job going through examples in class. A few opportunities for extra credit is nice and he does a good job making clear deadlines and altering them to accommodate university events, like the career fairs. My only gripe lies in his teaching, the material's all good but he's very monotone.

Comment:

Good professor all around. Sometimes doesn't really explain things in class. However, if you stay afterwards and ask him or go to his office hours you can tell he really knows what he's talking about and generally can clarify a question really well.

I think Dr. Hansen is a great professor. I for one do not believe that calculus or math in general can ever be learnt solely by lectures. Study somewhat beforehand and always pay attention. He's super caring about his students and only wants them to succeed. Also, PLEASE do the MyMathLab assignments. Its a lot, but you'll get so good after them.

Very intelligent and very helpful. He wants his students to succeed and likes to connect with the students. He is sometimes hard to follow but he is always willing to go back and explain things. I really enjoyed his class and thought he was a very fair teacher.

He's a super helpful guy when you go talk to him during office hours. He is THE MOST UNORGANIZED guy ever! He's scatter brained so he'll forget things quite often, his notes were hard for me to follow. If you follow the book you should be fine. Take his class if you can learn from the textbook and can take semi-hard tests. His grading is lenient.

He's a smart man and he knows what he's talking about, but students can't follow him. He doesn't explain very well and he's all over the place with his lesson. It's almost impossible to follow him without reading the chapter and doing example problems BEFORE class.

Sometimes very difficult to understand. He definitely knows what he is talking about, but he teaches as if we all already do too. Make sure to follow along with notes and do examples out of the book because almost no homework is given. Tests will be much harder if you don't do any homework. It would have been nice to see more assigned homework.

Dr. Hansen is an okay prof. He does talk a little monotone, but he does a very good job teaching the material. He does give out about 3 homeworks and quizzes for the year, and that's it. As long as you go to class, you'll be fine. Most of the exams and quizzes are problems similar to those he went over in class. I'd recommend him.
