Comment:

If possible, avoid Dr. Liu. An incomprehensible accent combined with imperceptible material makes this class and absolute nightmare. The homeworks are all very long and I'm convinced they are impossible to solve without the use of Chegg. Tests are difficult but stay unchanged from year to year, so find a friend who has taken it.

I do not know if he is good or bad at explaining coz I just can't interpret what he is saying. I tried two times but feel asleep easily. Good thing about his class was that attendance was not required and quizzes were not there so I missed all the classes except when turning hw in or giving exams, and studied from the book on my own.

Comment:

Main complaint is how hard he is to understand. You will constantly be scratching your head to figure out what he is communicating. The tests are difficult as is the homework. You will need to worship the textbook if you want to learn anything. Bring coffee to class.

Very hard to understand. Thick accent is fine but when it's not understandable there's a problem. I found myself trying to concentrate on what he's saying instead of the content. Randomly throws fits about people not cramming up the front seats and about people not volunteering to answer. Material is okay.

Hard to understand, doesn't post homework on time, and teaches very poorly. The content is easy, and the tests are easy, but I would strongly not recommend him as a teacher. His Chinese accent is thick. He regularly asks students to cram up into the front of the classroom instead of being spread out comfortably. Overall a poor teacher.

The class was a bit boring for me. We learned one method at the beginning of the class that I mastered, and this method carried me through the entire class. He essentially tells you what's going to be on the exams, so I'd bring homework from other classes to do during lecture.

He seems like a good guy, but as a teacher he is very hard to understand. His accent is real thick, and he moves all over the place with the material where you can't follow him easily. The material is hard enough as it is, but he makes it even more difficult.

Very difficult to understand. Doesn't answer students questions well and doesn't seem interested in helping students succeed at ALL. terrible teacher, bad at getting across any concept. You're better off doing all the work by yourself in this class, which is a lot f work.

has no idea about the ablication of MATH 267 and will not be helpful in explaining this, thus making this class useless. if you cant apply the material to anything usefull then why learn it. Be prepared to learn on your own. terrible at getting concepts accross. very hard and even more frustrating. Why pay for this!

At the beginning of the semester it was a little difficult to get past the accent; however, after becoming familiar with how he talks, I have found him to be very helpful and knowledgeable.

Although he is impossible to comprehend, the class was reletively easy. Almost all the answers to the homework were in the back of the book, and he does give a generous curve at the end of the class. Overall, he is a nice guy, and I'm glad I stayed in the class.

Most confusing and unintersting class I have taken at Iowa State. This professor says his sentances so fast that sometimes you can't even understand what he says. Not sure how he grades his class because the semester isn't over yet, but do not take this professor if you don't have to.
