Dr. Kight is an amazing professor. He genuinely cares for his students and he will not abandon you. He goes above and beyond to make himself available for extra help. This class will require you to learn the material. He does not ask simply memorization questions; so you have to actually apply the information. I learned a lot!

Great at lecturing, however, his exams are TOUGH. Definitely prepares you for future biology courses. Lab portion was enjoyable. 4 exams worth 60% of your grade. Drops the lowest exam grade.

Kight is probably one of the best professors at MSU. He really knows how to teach and explain things. He doesnt rush through everything to finish, he makes sure people understand. Lowest grade out of 4 tests get dropped, lab is easy. One tip: record his lectures. his tests are more from his lectures then book, use book as reference. PAY ATTENTION

If you're serious about bio, take him. He takes time to explain things, encourages students to ask questions, offers tutoring. Difficult exams heavily centered on lectures, studying is a must. You must understand the material and not just memorize text. Tests require you to really think and reason. He talks fast so best to record all lectures.

As a professor, he is great! I can't complain about him personally. HOWEVER, beware of his exams. They are extremely tough, I was NOT lazy and I REALLY did study. His tests were nearly impossible to pass. It's a low level course, save yourself from receiving a low grade and ruining your major GPA. Retook it and received a B over the summer.

I took his evolution course online and it was not bad at all. There are quizzes you need to complete each week plus an online lab report which is very easy to do. The material was presented in a very fair, organized and clever way. Just expect to take very detailed notes because his quizzes tend to be a little tricky. Overall, very good professor!

Dr. Kight is the best professor I ever have! He is down to the earth and very clear in his explanation about how things work. If you pay attention on his lecture, you will get an A for sure. Exams are all multiple choices. He entertained students by making different jokes; I loved the UPS guy story when he used as an example for Sexual Selection.

I have taken Dr. Kight for four courses now including evolutionary biology and let's just say he's the best, but not when teaching this class. He makes is extremely difficult. Even if you write everything that he says in the videos, that won't be enough. Take this class with Keenan. PS. I am a straight A student and this was my first C ever.

he's the best professor I've had at MSU. he's funny, approachable, there for you. however, he's a tough grader, doesn't take attendance but if u're willing to pass u have to be there, 4 tests (final included) drops the lowest, no quizzes, no homework, no extra credits, no lab notebook !! his labs are easy, only one lab project.

Dr. Kight is a great professor. He is always available to help his students and he seems to really care about them. His lectures are interesting because of his sense of humor. The exams are a little bit difficult but if you pay attention in lecture and listen to what he says, you should be fine. Definitely one of my favorite professors.

Dr. Kight is a great teacher, but his exams are very tough! They are entirely open ended questions and he is VERY specific about what he wants for an answer. There's 3 exams, a final, and a 10+ page paper. He drops the lowest grade out of the 4 tests. This class requires a lot of studying. I recorded all the lectures and read almost every chapter.

DO NOT LISTEN TO THOSE POOR AND AVERAGE COMMENTS!!! Mr. Kight is an amazing professor. Yes, his tests are tough but if you actually come to every class and listen to him, you will pass. Your in a bio major for a reason, why in the world would you want to take a easy professor that won't teach a thing, instead of taking someone who knows his stuff.

don't listen to any of these comments, he is hands down the best professor there is. He truly cares about his students and is beyond willing to help them(and he answers emails super quickly). his lecture may be long, but he's so funny and interested in what he teaches so the lectures aren't bad. overall, i would definitely take his class again

I would not recommend taking him. He is a very nice guy and he's funny but his tests are extremely hard. I feel like he basically sets us up for failure. And the tests are on power point which sucks.

An alright professor. His lectures are long and boring. there are 3 tests + a final but he drops the lowest grade. I personally didn't like him because of the way his tests were set up. Extremely hard and tricky. I would suggest taking an easier professor.

Kight is one of the better biology professors at MSU which isn't really saying much but he keeps the class interesting. He puts exams on a projector and for each question, you get like 30-60 seconds max, which is frustrating. The lab required more work than the lecture. Expect to put the work in if you take this class regardless of who you take.

His exams are CONCEPTUAL, so memorizing won't help much. Not studying also guarantees a failing grade. Aside from that, he's hilarious, approachable and very into teaching and bio. Would definitely take again.

Professor Kight is a GREAT professor. I took this class online for 3 weeks. There was a lot of listening to lectures and quizzes due in one week BUT that's what a 3 week summer class consists of, you can't expect it to be easy. Some of the quizzes were tricky but if you work hard you will get a good grade. Definitely will take him again!
