Comment:

Dr. Reese is a very interesting professor. He likes to crack jokes throughout lecture and sometimes even directs his humor towards students. However, Dr. Reese is a professional in his field and knows what he's talking about. He does lecture a lot, but he keeps the class entertained. If I could I would take him for a third time!

Dr. Reese's classroom atmosphere is hostile and uninviting. Dr. Reese has tons of knowledge on the Middle East, but is unorganized in his delivery and often times disrespected the Islamic religion and important historical Islamic figures. Dr. Reese will disrupt class to condemn you if you are even 30 seconds late. Easy class, not worth the trauma.

Really enjoyed his lectures and the class in general! Dr Reese is fairly stern, however he does make condescending jokes in lecture towards students. Also, if you are late, don't try to go to class because he'll call you out. Lastly, as long as you participate in class often he'll like you and you'll enjoy the class.

Very interesting topics about the history of Islam. Dr. Reese is a good lecturer, if not often times condescending to his students. Does not have rubric for grading papers, so you have to talk to him if you want clarification on papers. Very knowledgeable about the Middle East.

Not the worst teacher I've had, he does convey the material in a somewhat understandable way. However he was pretentious. "Stuck up." Also graded hard on some but was lenient on others. He made students feel dumb in class. Said he purposefully made assignments hard to weed out ones who wouldn't cut it. Was not for your success but for your failure.

Every week he assigns textbook reading as well as online readings and you really don't need the book. I looked at it maybe twice the whole semester. Also the online readings, you can just skim to do the weekly homework.

It's an interesting class, but oh my gosh. Every week you have textbook reading and online readings and let me tell you, those online ones are so long. You will learn a lot in his class but to be honest, I rented the textbook and I've only read it twice so you don't REALLY need it.

He is very passionate about the topic but he doesn't really back up his claims. In my class he offended three foreign students, 2 of them are Arabic and the other one was Pakistani woman. Makes comments on student in class around the students peers. When you answer his question he makes you like the answer you gave him was incorrect and dumb.

Awesome teacher. Very passionate about what he teaches which makes the material more interesting and fun to learn. Does not deal with slackers. Will call you out for walking in late or leaving for any reason. Cares about his students and is always concerned when someone does not show up. Attendance mandatory.

Professor Reese definitely knows the the subject matter, but has a very cynical attitude. Overall a great teacher just don't show up late, because he will embarrass you!

He's super passionate about what he teaches which makes the class enjoyable. You can get by on the notes alone though I suggest doing the assigned reading. He's a bit eccentric when it comes to his pet peeves (cell phones, tardiness, going to the bathroom, etc.) but other than that it was a good class. Don't take for an easy A.

Dr. Reese obviously knows a lot about his subject matter and conveys it pretty efficiently in lectures. However, he's almost impossible to work with on a personal level, as he makes jokes at students' expense or flat-out insults them. Unfortunately, the bad parts outweigh the good in his classes.

Absolutely amazing professor. Definitely in my top two. Very good at explaining the topic, and has respect for the students if they have respect for him. Would absolutely take another one of his classes in a heart beat.

He gives alot of information at once so be prepared. He's an okay professor but be prepared to pay attention and take good notes. miss one class and you miss quite a bit. He'll call you out on being late and will go on rants.

He's a great Lecturer, hard to take notes though; he goes off on tangents quite often. He gets very offended when people walk in late and when students are constantly using the bathroom. just don't piss him off and you'll do okay. He has very little respect for his students and it gets annoying after awhile.

Dr. Reese is a great professor. He is very helpful if you make an effort and are focused on getting a good grade. He made me want to become a history major.

He was a very bad professor, taught through class interaction, but goes off topic and ruins your notes half the time. Do not take this class for an easy A, he makes you do responses that you NEED to side with him on to get a decent grade; he does know the material though.
