Was very excited to get the book list and then watch classmates' opinions of books take up time we're meant to use to DISCUSS the books instead. I know he's about to retire, but I like discussing literature, not saying what I ~feel~ about it. Oh well. It was easy enough. I missed three classes and still passed.

Dr. Rice rambles on a bit, but he is a pretty interesting teacher once you tune out the rambling. Bring a laptop, or a book, to class, and you'll be fine

Prof. Rice is hilarious! Sometimes he rambles but he knows everything. As an English major, it sucked that we never wrote a paper but the tests/final were straight forward. It can be intimidating to speak up in class because he asks really difficult or ambiguous questions. Recommended to any English major. He has given me a new respect for poetry.

Professor Rice is a nice man and grades fair. I emailed him because I was having trouble coming up with a topic for my research paper, and he not only emailed me back with suggestions, but gave me a list of websites and books to help me which I REALLY appreciated. I hope I can take another class with him before I graduate. =)

This course is very difficult, but Professor Rice did what he could to help the students understand the material. A lot of it I had to teach to myself, but his lectures helped me broaden my understanding of it.

Professor Rice is a good instructor. Expect a lot of reading. When I took this class we had to read 10 children's literature books, each within 1 week and a quiz to follow. Midterm and final are take home.

He is very old-school, likes to preach a lot about anti-technology/modern. But the class is super easy and interesting. Test for every book but they are SO easy. Books are easy to get through quickly, don't be overwhelmed by the quantity of books. Great class! Easy A as long as you read the kids books.

His Children's Lit class is great. He is good at analyzing children's literature. The lectures are interesting. He quizzes for every book and gives a take home mid-term and final. I was recommended this class over all other electives and I wasn't disappointed.

His class is pretty boring most of the time. Once in a while you'll get to hear some interesting stories from his life. he grades pretty easy. i didn't try and got a B+ on every paper. i had this class at 9am so it was hard to sit through. if you do everything even half assed you'll pass no problem.

He is an awesome teacher. He might ramble on and on but you learn a lot from him even if you don't agree to what he has to say. He makes you read a lot of books but they are good ones because you never will put them down. His quizzes and assignments aren't too difficult as long as you do the reading. He is a very supportive and reliable when you need him...always can count on him to call or email you back.

This guy should not be the head of the English department. Loses papers and other important items. Seems like he's in a fog half the time. Can his staff manybe support this guy better?

Class is easy (if do the work you will probably get an A), but if you have any problems this is not the teacher to go to. He doesn't seem interested in helping. His lectures are interesting, but his opinions get repetitive by the end. You will hear the same jokes throughout the semester.

Great professor. He compares the novels' themes to present-day issues, and the characterizations to current celebrities, which makes the books much more interesting and easier to read.

The books were interesting and the class very easy, but if you actually want to learn something, don't take this class. His lectures are the same week after week, and are all centered around his political views.

He's quite easy. We read 12 children's books and he quizzed us on each one. There is a take-home midterm, final, and class project. His lectures are all the same...mainly about life and wisdom. He lets you leave early. He can be boring during class.

Extremely boring teacher. His lectures are centered on his own perspectives and have no open ended discussions. The books are fun and interesting. Friday class must read a book a week and take a quiz (very easy) take home final and midterm also very.

This guy thinks that only his opinions are important. He likes to make claims that he couldn't possibly back up with any info or research. Most of the class time is spent listening to him **** and whine about how stupid everyone is. Wastes your time.
