Simmon is great. He's entertaining, informative, and grades pretty easily on the quizzes and essays. This is a film class, so its pretty hard to skip class and catch up later. Go to class, relax, watch some movies, and you'll be set up for an A.

The best class I've ever taken. Even as a slacker, I never missed his film course because it was very entertaining. I actually looked forward to class.

Really different style of teaching, but it made film viewing more interesting. It's not your easy A film class - it's all about subjective thinking. He has the best taste in films. Definitely just drop by for his office hours - he gives great film recommendations.

Look. Any sceince or engineering majors looking to take this class for an easy A DON'T do it. Its a lot harder that you think and its useless. Most of the stuff is subjective and even then they grade you on a "right answer". If you already registered for the class get out of it as fast as you can it will run your GPA. Run and don't look back.

He doesn't really 'teach', he just introduces the movies we're going to watch. I love the movies, they're great but he focuses entirely on American and European films, very euro-centric. Plus we're tested on the reading material, which he never discusses. And we're expected to write about films from a technical angle which he never teaches us.

Yes, he is old, and he preserves films. But that doesn't mean he knows how to teach. Very boring lectures.
