allowed waaayyyyy too much discourse on irrelevant material, and because of that never finished teaching us about plato's republic and expected us to "figure" out the last 6 chapters by ourselves. when he was teaching the material he was very good.

I hated philosophy before enrolling in this class. Sean makes everything interesting, and clarifies anything confusing. He encourages the students to have their own opinions. The essays are based on understanding, so as long as you've read the texts or payed some attention in class, you'll do fine. The text analysis isn't difficult to complete.

Actually, I did have an interest taking this class before knowing what it was about...and ended up hating the class. Nothing against the teacher, friendly person and certainly adds in interesting facts, but the subject matter was just boring to me. Oh well, I guess philosophy is not for everyone.

This teacher is rather awesome. I find his voice can sometimes get a bit daunting though, but he knows his material, and more, he always adds in interesting tidbits. He gives your exam and midterm material before hand to be fair, which I find is awesome, lets us show our true knowledge. There no surprises in his class just his great intelligence.

This is one prof that I will remember for the rest of my life. Dimmed lights, gold-rimmed aviators, and discussions that will completely change how you think. This class should be mandatory. To the poster below me, I never went to phil cafe, & I never spoke ONCE in class or to Sean. Nice try though.

Not a great guy. He gives you a good mark if he knows who you are. If you show up to class and talk, if you go to his phil cafe, if you drink beers with him after class, if you talk in his office. The marks are not based on content. He lets stupid people spout stupidness all class and doesn't teach you anything.

One of the best profs I've ever had. Really tries to get debating started, knows TONS about the subject. We only covered the basics, but even that was fascinating. Gives you exam questions (essay-format) so it makes studying way less stressful. Quick to get assignments back to you. GET SEAN FOR EVERYTHING AND DEFINITELY CHECK OUT THE PHIL CAFE!
