I love Sebastiaan so much! I have taken a 300 and 400 with him, and at first I was terrified. Once you get over the initial intimidation and participate it is such a rewarding experience to learn from him. He is a tough grader but has been so flexible about meeting with me early in the morning because I work during his office hours. He is amazing

He's very passionate about Latin American and Spanish history and it shows in his lectures. He elevates the material with excitement and humor. He's very willing to help answer questions outside of class, and his feedback on essays is very helpful.

I was a freshman when I took his 300 level Spanish class. I was very shy in the class as a result, and didn't speak at all really in class, but I still felt that I learned a lot. He is very understanding and flexible, and his class really motivated me to continue my pursuit of a Spanish minor. Wonderful overall!

I had not taken Spanish in 2 years, and he brought it back and made me a much more confident speaker. He also works very hard to be available and help you outside of class. I really enjoyed class with him, and I consider it a privilege to have worked with him.

Wonderful professor. Very engaging and witty. At first it may be difficult to understand because he doesn't slow down for you, but eventually you adjust and you are much better at listening to Spanish (though he isn't a native speaker). I absolutely loved his class and would definitely take another class with him.

he is completely great. helpful, funny, and doesnt take him self too seriously at all. he makes me LOVE spanish and makes me want to learn more. the work is just hard enough but never stressful, because he makes it fun and gives a perfect amount of time to complete assignments.
