Such a sweet lady! Her class was very exciting, the content was intriguing, she was very knowledgable. Very loveable, definitely would take a class just to have her as a teacher. She gave great feedback on assignments and graded fairly on exams. Overall, awesome experience!

Lovely teacher and person. In large classes she can come off a bit dry but in a small class size she is an absolute gem who genuinely cares about the students. She is a hard marker but Id very fair and makes her criteria clear and also enjoys it when her students put passion into there own work even on research analytics papers. Would recommend!!

Had Dr. Stewart as a guest lecturer, she presented on poetry by Sappho. I fell in love. You'll know.

Selina was very kind, I really enjoyed her class. Midterm was incredibly merciful, and easy written response questions to choose from. 2 Papers, and a final worth 40%. She jumps around through the slides quite a bit, but she eventually posts them online so you do get everything. Definitely a solid elective choice!

She could be one of my favourite profs at the U of A. She is caring, grades fairly, tests are resonable and the topics are she teaches are very interesting! Very helpful and one of the nicest profs at the university too! I would recommend her, take her class!!

Selina is very kind! You can tell she loves what she does but sometimes a little slow when going through lectures. Overall I enjoy the class and would definitely take a class with her again.

Take this class! She clearly identified what would be on the tests, her midterm and final were the exact same style so we all knew what to expect and papers had minimal guidelines which gave room for creativity. BTW don't buy the textbook (borrow it from the library for the paper) and you don't need to read the Iliad (zero questions tested on it)

Comment:
Selina is a decent prof, but her lectures are very dry. I found it difficult to follow the timeline of the history because she would jump around between the actual history and the Iliad. She is usually five minutes late to class, and she repeats herself frequently- to the point that we didn't make it through all of the course content.

Dr. Stewart is amazing! I loved how much creative room she gave on the papers. I also didn't even bother reading the Iliad & still got an A. She makes the class extremely easy & I honestly don't think it would be possible to fail this class. 10/10 would recommend, it is a GPA booster and an interesting class if you want to try something different!

I liked Dr. Stewart's class and found it easy. Her two papers allow for so much freedom, one is creative like a diary entry and the other is research with a wide variety of topics and she basically says use any citation format you want, but give LOTS of evidence. Her multiple choice is direct memorization of PowerPoints, lots of names and terms.

Dr. S. was good - really nice woman, really passionate about what she teaches, but the content is super dry. She teaches right from her ppts mostly so you can definitely get away with hardly attending and still getting a good grade in the class. Two papers - one creative (easy) and one research (confusing in requirements) and the midterm and final.

She is absolutely HORRIBLE at giving feedback. Barely passed the written part of my midterm and got no feedback on it at all. She makes the class terribly boring, she uses a different textbook than the students and never gives out the right reading pages. We were supposed to finish all 24 books of the iliad, only got through the first 12.

Really scattered in her responses. Often would encourage questions from students but couldn't answer them and would "have to get back" to the student. Her TA Dylan however was horrible; very nervous and totally unclear when marking exams and papers. Really nice and passionate about Greece. Teaches solel from the textbook

Loved Dr. Stewart. She is such a kind and caring prof, she genuinely cares about how you're doing. She is extremely passionate about the material and her lectures were always interesting. The midterm was a bit difficult (expectations wise) but she is extremely helpful on both the term paper and essay. Take a class with her, coming from a bio major.

Prof Stewart was awesome! Very passionate about Greece. This sometimes leads to rambles but overall great prof! Unsure how hard of a marker she is because TA marked things and she marked tough. However, recommend going to see Selina during office hours as she is incredibly helpful with any questions or to just talk about Ancient Greece!

Dr. Stewart is a lovely prof, I definitely recommend her! All of her lecture notes are on slides that she posts on eClass, and the midterm and final questions are based off of them. You also write two essays in the course and you have a lot of creative room with them. Take this course with her if you get the chance.

Dr. Stewart is passionate for what she teaches and that's nice to see. The course was heavily based on literature which I did not particularly enjoy but she's a nice woman. Also, the final was easy and not cumulative, which was great!
