very good teacher, she is kind and understanding. She did not once judge me for not knowing how a concept,I was not very confident in math before but she gave the encouragement and time I needed. Hard to understand and the she seems to expect that all her students are math geniuses. She would just say over and over "this is easy". She would also start the class, 5 or sometimes even 10 minutes early so you'd miss the intro.

She was amazing! super clear instructions, very good notes. I would email her at 10 at night and she would respond. If you don't show up you can easily grab notes from another student, but I would strongly recommend going to every class. She gives great feedback and on quizzes, she gives extra chances to get it right. I got a 97 in that class

Comment:

I went from failing math in high school, to getting solid 90-100's at MRU. She gives ample opportunity to get higher grades, giving re-tests on exams besides the final. When you hear students complain its because they haven't done their homework and haven't shown up to class. That is not her fault. Highly recommend her.

Shanty is probably one of the best math teachers out there, she is caring,respectful and understanding . She knows math inside and out and if you put in the effort you will do well. She is a fair marker and is not hard on her students at all. She is always putting in extra help for those who need it!! Awesome teacher over all.

She is very wonderful and silly at times. She may seem rude but she doesn't mean it. Sometimes it is kinda hard for her to understand but if you actually listen in class its not that hard. She always helps me after class when I don't quite understand something. Overall, amazing teacher and very humble and sarcastic.

Elias is a good teacher, some of the comments on here are shocking. She had been extremely helpful and often repeats things for people that do not understand. I recommend her to everyone that I can.

Shanty is probably one of the worst profs ever. She is unwilling to help you and will say that is wrong and walk away and not try to help you. She talks down to students and makes them feel bad infront of everyone. She yelled at me for using a paperclip not a staple on an assignment. Do not take a class with her. They should get rid of her.

Went into this class with an intermediate understanding of algebra. She would get extremely angry when my group mates wouldn't grasp a concept right away. One kid was transferred from 0130 to this class and didn't have the tutorial done, as he wasn't even registered at the time. She told him to "get it together" in front of the entire class. Avoid.

Shanty is very unhelpful and often argues with her students. She is very difficult to understand she takes longer than the class runs very often. We had a group project lost marks because we didn't have parts of it done, which she did not mention to us. Avoid if you can!

Very difficult to understand given her heavy accent. When asked for extra assistance she was abrupt and created more confusion. On a number of occasions she provided one explanation but in class gave a completely different. She also moved way to fast through the course and missed a number of crucial topics that were not covered on exams. Stay away!

Shanty is obviously very knowledgeable when it comes to math, however I found that she got very frustrated (once to the point of yelling) when I tried to get her to explain something further. Also, she really moves through the course at break-neck speed, which does leave a lot of time for review, but only if you can grasp the concepts quickly.

shes an awesome teacher, but she works at a really fast pace. Not giving you enough time between sections it was just a uneasy experience with this prof. nonetheless shes an awesome person
