He's a nice man, he doesnt teach. He expects you to know econ 1a perfectly. His study guides arent like ests. Tests are hard. Most of the class failed/dropped. He rambles on w/ stories. He doesnt lecture. Bounces all over chapters but doesnt say which chapter he is in. Class consists of 3 exams, 2 pts attend, 5 pts xtra credit. SO hard!!!

This professor is a sweet olde man with a heavy heavy accent, but dont let that fool you! I ignored all these reviews on him and took the class and failed. He has no structure and jumps from different chapters. Doesnt teach and just does examples on the board expecting you already know Economics.... you have to teach yourself. Its awful/painful

If English is your second language or your English is not good, you should better not take his class. At least 60% of the grade you get depend on how you read the book and review. His test includes many chapters compared with other professor. When you review these chapters, you would spend more time on it because many things in book he doesn't tell

He gives 3 exams, they make up your ENTIRE grade. Now i know you might think its a hard class, it is. He only teaches the basic concepts. If you fail an exam he will usually bump up the grade by 10% and give extra credit. Participation and attendance is worth 2 and 5 extra credit points respectively. I highly recommend him on extra credit alone.

Probably the worst economics professor. All he ever does is tell you to read the book and do the study guide. It is true that one has to put effort but the content he teaches in class does not help when doing the study guide. He talks more about politics than he does about economics

Professor Bastani is a great Professor. He is not a challenging Professor, meaning there is no critical thinking or analysis that goes into the course, but he does teach the necessary material. If you want an easy A, go to Professor Bastani, if you want a challenge Professor Sung-Kim, but if you want to suffer a bit, go with Professor Jenni Kim.

Had to drop class. DEFINITELY need the book because he relies on you to read it. Notes were not helpful. He does acronyms for everything and it didn't help me personally. Only gave one extra credit. Grading relies on tests only. No homework.

I would highly recommend this professor to anyone. He's extremely knowledgable and passionate about Economy. It is not an easy subject, but he really does his best to break down the concepts for you. He's also very punny.

bastani is really clear in teaching economics. by doing the problem on the board, it really helps the class to understand the material and the concept which is really hard to study on your own. just take notes on what he's saying and you notes will be your ticket to ace the exams. his notes are crystal clear. gives extra credit. must take teacher!!

He's not a good teacher. I had to drop the class because he didn't teach. All he does is give a couple of examples in class but he doesn't give instructions, so it's difficult to study your notes for the test. You must study from your book, the test is based on it even if we don't use it in class.

(I have a) 88% in the grade and with those 19% ec That's an overkill easy A. Yes, i agree the exam can be hard but reading and doing the study guide can ensure you a B IF YOU READ/STUDY. People like you who expects an easy A without studying/reading should not be rating a professor at all. Instead open your book and study for god sake.

The only hard thing about this class is no reading means no chance of passing this class. He drops students if they don't attend class on regular basis, and the one's who don't take tests. Total of 2 tests in sem. and 1 E.C. and than final. So, very tough exams to pass too. He always answers questions. always take notes they are helpful on tests.

Prof Bastani is actually an amazing prof.; only thing he's strict on is attendance so do not skip class/be tardy! He is extremely helpful and truly wants everyone to succeed in his class. He allows two sheets (4 sides) of notes for every exam! sometimes extra credit take-home work. Good attendance (5 pts)+participation (2pts) 7 extra pts

Professor Bastani is very good at breaking down a topic and explaining it thoroughly. Everything from his lectures can be analyzed further by reading the textbook. He's the professor to take if you want to major in Econ.

Professor Bastani truly cares about his students and has such a kind personality. He grades based upon 2 tests, 1 final, 1 project, and participation. Use the Study guide that comes with the textbook to succeed on his tests. You don't really need to do much reading (unless assigned), because his lectures are pretty thorough. Go to office hours.

Took him for Summer 2015 and he was great. He lets you have two pages of notes (4 sides) for tests. He will take the time to explain things to you if you need it and he tries to be there for you during his office hours.

I am currently a student at USC and took the course over summer at PCC hoping it would be easier - and I was right. His extra credit bumps you up by roughly 15% so do it. The tests were mostly multiple choice from the study guide and the free response portions were identical to questions covered in class. Should be an easy A with minimal effort.

Summer 2015: He took time to take attendance but covered all of the material for each day anyways. He did not assign homework at all and provided a few extra credit opportunities. His tests were not difficult if one studied the notes and study guide.
