Dr. Kane's Young Adult Literature Class was very intensive, however, it was a pleasurable escape from wrksheets, etc. to have to read a book every week . Her passion truly rubs off on people. I'd be lying if she didn't brag about the famous authors she knows, but catch her some slack, it's nice to have a professor be passionate about what they do

She is a very nice women but you better be ready for a headache. She gives a lot of easy assignments but won't really go over her grading criteria or how heavily things are graded. You're lost on what to do and how important the assignments are. She takes missing even one class very seriously! Read one book a week.

She taught NOTHING. Only talked about books for 3 hours and if we tried to discuss anything she'd shut us down. Never followed the syllabus. Gave no clear directions. Doesn't post grades, just gives a check or check plus and you are literally blind about what's going on. Just don't do it. I took her because of these reviews and they lied

I can't believe professor Kane is still there! Hers was the only class that actually prepared me for the curriculum I now teach, 11 years after graduating! Wonderful teacher.

Professor Kane will not give up on you. Ever. Her passion is an inspiration, and she models the teaching strategies she tries to teach during class. Her organizational skills are lacking, but if you are attentive (even hounding her, if needs be) she will not only be fair, but help you as best she can. Professor Kane will never give up on a student.

Sharon was pretty nice and the assignments were up for interpretation. Class was REALLY work intensive. Basically took her grad course and made it into an English Course. I like her but she was kind of heavily focused on the teaching aspects especially with the textbook. I don't want to teach. Don't take if you don't like reading. Weekly novels.

She's exuberant and clever about modeling her instruction, but her organization is awful. Massive amounts of work, but the issue is she doesn't understand pacing, due dates are ridiculous. Completely confusing feedback. She contradicted her own assessments many times, told me to add things that were in the work. Doesn't seem to read submitted work

If you don't like reading, this is not the class for you. Thankfully I do. But buying a book a week for a class is quite expensive and libraries usually don't have them to rent. Despite that, this class is very fun and engaging. She loves teaching it! Although I will say I have not read a book yet that I LOVED, but I like most of them.

I haven't had her for a professor yet but she is currently my undergrad advisor. She's great! It's easy to see that she really cares about your success and offers great advice on your accademic worries. I'd definitely reccommend her as an advisor!

Professor Kane is awesome! She is very passionate about what she does but she is a great teacher! You really learn A LOT from her! Her class is a lot of work but it is easy reading and enjoyable work. Nothing is hard... just a little time consuming. The work you put in definitely pays off! I would highly recommend her to anyone!

I don't know what these other people are talking about. I teach high school and I learned so much from Dr. Kane. She is one of the best sources on campus. The people who are rating her horrible, probably are just lazy and didn't want to work for their grade. Yes, there is a ton of reading and writing, but most are creative. Good class.

Avoid this professor at all costs. She rants about her children constantly (one is a lawyer for companies that pollute the great lakes) and when she's not doing that she's telling you to bring picture books to your high school classes. Also, if you get back a paper with a check on it...that's the lowest on her grading scale. Utter madness.

I have taken multiple classes wih Dr. Kane. She is intense, but very passionate with what she does. I felt like it was money well spent and that I earned my grade. Hard work pays off...trust me, she is one of the best and most intelligent Professors on the SUNY Oswego campus!
