Comment:
Dr. Kim is not an "easy" professor. She takes assignments seriously, and expects quality work in return. However, she is also a genuinely caring person. Although I never had class with her in-person, she was very responsive to my emails, gave constructive feedback (both negative and positive), and was genuinely passionate about the subject.

She is an elitist, who lost touch with the general population, especially her students. She assumes students are earning an English degree.

Taking this class is HARD, but in the end you will come out a better writer if you put the work in. She is very direct in her feedback and some may seem harsh, but she only wants the best for you and for you to succeed.

She is an incredibly harsh grader and does not make clear what she wants from you. Avoid her class if you can, get a different professor. Seriously, you don't want her as a professor.

I hope to never again experience a class like hers. The room was always quiet, awkward, and full of tension. She does not hold back on feedback when you give the slightest participation, and also is a brutal grader. Although I will admit my writing is better, it still wasn't worth the amount of stress.

At first I hated the class because it was so difficult, but looking back I can see that my papers are much better now. Lots of papers I think I had 6 or 7 papers- one a week for like 4 weeks in a row. Very hard grader- I only know of one person who got an A on a paper in my class. Very smart lady but difficult class.

If you are a good writer than you should not be afraid. I had her for Eng102 and did perfectly fine. She is a tough grader, but she wants to help you outside of class. She will give constructive criticism that has helped my in other classes. Although she may be hard, she is kind and helpful.

Took her several years ago, but I still remember how much I hated the class. I was an English major and everyone told me not to take a class with her, should have listened. Hated the "Socratic Method" that she used to teach. Always asked questions, never gave answers. She graduated from Yale and is the type of prof who likes to make you feel dumb.

The professor sent many student home crying. When I reached out for help she told me to read the textbook, if you had but didn't understand she said "Too Bad." I attended every class, paid attention, reached for help and still failed.

While I did nowhere near all the assigned reading, I still did fine in the class because I actually went to class. THAT is where you will get all information for the tests. Take good notes and do as much of the reading as you can; you should end up with a good grade.

Sharron is an extremely challenging professor who appreciates and encourages critical thinking. The workload is difficult (even excessive at times) and it can be difficult to think on your feet to the level she requires in class discussions. On the personal side, I found her to be kind, caring and eager to talk with students outside of class.

I'm not a lit major, and I love the way she teaches. Uses the socratic method, and really teaches you how to think deeply about things, and expand your mind, which is the whole point an education in the first place. People complain, but they don't put anything into the class. Plus, I think she generally likes up div better than low. Great.

Sharon Kim is a wonderful professor who only asks that her students think at a college level. She doesn't hate you; she just wants you to be able to reason out why you say something. It has become culturally acceptible to voice things without care or reason, and she challenges that. I love her for that and for causing me to think.

Okay guys - so I've seen nothing but bad reviews here but maybe we just have a whole lot of bitter students. I've been in 3 of her lit classes now and if you read and think (something that many students do not do) you'll be fine. You just can't get by being lazy...and for whoever said it, she does not have her degree from Harvard, it's from Yale.

She is very tough and not cleat on her assignments. You basically have to guess what she wants and wait to see if you guessed right.
