Not very helpful. When you ask her something on the test she repeats it back to you. Made light of hard problems with students.

You have to approach this class with the mindset that it will be difficult. Studying 2 days before the exam will not cut it. You have to go to lecture, go over power points daily, and put forth the effort. See the big picture, the immune system cannot be viewed as performing in a step-by-step process. There are many helpful youtube videos to help!

She is extremely boring to listen to. She rambles on and on and barely writes anything on the board so be prepared to write down what she says. Print out all the powerpoints and know them very well. Do the learning outcomes and try to find old exams. She is probably the least straightforward teacher I've ever had but it is possible to make an A!

Go to class, write down everything Dr. Roberts says. Don't do learning outcomes. Watch videos she posts on Canvas & keep up with questions from classmates on Piazza. Use old tests to test yourself on concepts but don't expect many repeat questions. You do have to learn the material, but Dr. Roberts is great & the class isn't bad like everyone says.

Go to lecture. Listen to her speak. She's occasionally funny. Tests aren't bad. Reading the book helped clarify concepts I didn't understand, not because she lacked the ability to communicate them effectively, but because they were somewhat complex.

Dr. Roberts writes 10% of what she lectures down, it wont be on powerpoint either, so be prepared for that. Asking her questions becomes a game of word semantics,so know exactly what you're confused about BEFORE you approach. Watching immuno videos online and attending review sessions got me through. Read before class, go to PIT lectures

I found the class especially irritating. The material was interesting, but she presents in in a way that is difficult to follow. Ex. Lecture: "A then B,then F". C, D, E always covered last 5 mins. Asking questions is pointless, she alternates btwn ('we discussed this' and 'we don't know')Piazza can be helpful if students post.

she has the worst exams ever. I personally love immulogy but hated the way she taught the class, she words the questions on the test where its so vague with confusing answers. Ask anyone thats taken her before, they'd all tell you her tests are so poorly made but if you have to take her its not like you have a choice so.. good luck.

Dr. Roberts is very strict on grading. She will not bump anybody's grade even if they are only 1 question away. An 89.9 is a B. She will teach you a lot about Immunology, however, and I would recommend attending class. Be prepared to work and study very hard for her class. The questions on the exams are really in depth. 3 exams and a final.

Dr. Roberts is Dr. Moss' teaching twin - they teach class in identical ways. Her test questions are extremely detailed, and may have one or two answers that could be correct, but she'll only consider the answer she wants. It's a doable class, but more confusing than it should be. This class made me hate Immunology.

Dr. Roberts is helpful if you go to her outside of class. Her exams are poorly written and she tests on the overly specific instead of the broad topics she lectures on. You must do all assignments to get a decent grade. I went to class, did the assignments and still ended up with a high C in the class(first in college). Study hard.

This class has the potential to be the most helpful/applicable class in the department, but Roberts doesn't allow that. The information itself is very simple, but her style of asking questions and presenting the information make the class a challenge. I honestly don't even know how to tell you to study. Easy B, tough A. I got lucky.

Do the assignments and learning objectives. She's very interested in helping her students learn. You HAVE to study ahead though. The short answer tests can be tricky! Probably one of the best teachers at AU. Doesn't just read from powerpoint.

Test questions can be extremely tricky and poorly worded. She really is all over the place during lecture and just draws flow chart diagrams the whole time that make no sense and are extremely hard to put into notes to be able to study. The grading system does not lend itself to much leniency and an A is pretty tough to get.

Does not deserve a bad reputation. The subject itself doesn't lend itself to easy explanation. Everything is so interrelated in the immune system that it's hard to just teach one aspect of it at a time. How can you teach just adaptive immunity when innate is involved intimately with it? Easy, interesting class, although I'd skip the lectures.

She is impossible to listen to and follow through a lecture. You never have any idea what she is talking about because she jumps from topic to topic. She also routinely gives wrong information during lectures and on slides.

Dr. Roberts is a very confused lady. Don't trust her- just learn from the book so you can have evidence to back answers she thinks are "incorrect". I missed out on an A because I went to a review session and she gave us incorrect info that came up on the final that she later denied having said.

Comment:
Virology: Her lectures are poorly structured and very random. She bounces all over the place. Her tests aren't hard, but it does seem a lot of the time that you can answer a question correctly but if you don't answer the way SHE would, you lose points. She's very vague with what she wants on tests, assignments, and projects. Very unorganized.
