I take him for macroeconomics online. There are four exams the entire course ONE of which he let's you do a retake. If you score higher on the retake that replaces one of the exams AND you won't have to take a final. The only grades are True/False quizzes. There are 12 T/F quizzes in total, but he drops your 5 lowest. & 10pt optional extra credit.

Dr. Carter provides plenty of resources for you to learn the material next to the textbook, which I personally didn't use. The material is very challenging so you must make an effort to learn it, whether using his resources or going on YouTube. Your grade comes from 2 weekly quizzes that are just participation grades, and 3 exams.

Your grade only comes from the test and participate. The tests are extremely hard.

He is willing to help, you have to catch him on an appointment or set something up and he really gives you all the attention you need to go over problems you missed. He helps us students out especially if he sees that the majority didn't do well on a test, his curves helped my grade a ton. Show you put in time and he'll put in the time too

Not going to lie, he can be a tad obnoxious. Heard several times "it's not rocket science" that can get to you if you're struggling and tell him you're struggling. He gives you a lot of homework but I've gone in to office hours and he says he hasn't looked at them so doesn't know. He kinda helps but it's hard. Just know study hard and long.

After EC221 with him, I rated him a little harshly (even though I got an A), but now I know that he actually is willing to help when you deserve it. Do all of the HW & quizzes! Test questions come from the same pool as quiz questions. Webcam for tests still sucks w a kid, but he doesn't seem to mind background noise as long as you don't cheat.

Dr. Carter is an awesome teacher! He does give pop quizzes, but the quizzes are super easy. He has practice quizzes on blackboard to help you study. If you take the time to do the practice quizzes, you'll do fine on the tests because he reuses questions. You don't have to study very much. Just come to class and TAKE THE PRACTICE QUIZZES!

I didn't like him at all. Long, boring lectures. He didn't explain his graphs well. I spent a ridiculous amount of time studying for exams.

I took this class online because I work full-time and have a five-year-old son. For this reason, the tests proved extra-hard because getting the silent household required for the webcam tests is almost impossible. Aside from that, the quizzes give good participation points and are directly from the pool of test questions.

Took EC221 microeconomics with Dr Carter summer 2014. Follow the schedule.... make sure you are familiar with the questions from the quiz. about 30% of the quiz questions will be on the test and all other questions will be similar or as Dr Carter says.... they come from the same pull. This class did demand a lot of my attention but I survived.

His microeconomics class is a really good political science class. He spends half of the time talking about conservative politics. I had to learn everything on my own. I would not recommend him unless you absolutely have to.

Okay, the only reason anyone would rate him as "poor" would be if they were too busy partying and never put forth an effort. He doesn't just give out A's, but they're very attainable. He's willing to explain things personally if you don't understand. After his class, I'm taking him for every class possible! I even changed my major to economics!

This class was the first econ class i had taken at the time and it influenced me to declare it as my major. bonus points were given for class attendence and the project was lengthy but easy. he was very insightful and interesting. i am a c student and have a low level of comprehension of math and i was still able to make a b with very little study

Took online class. DO NOT recommend unless you want to cry like every other day. Too much information, not enough instruction. Not willing to help you very much. Does not like you to have own opinion if not in agreement with his. Class average was an "F", but I pulled of a "C". I do not suggest this class if you are not strong in Math either.

teacher talks about past way too much. he loves texas a&m is one thing you will learn, but has a hard time relating to real world people in econ. was a math major in college so that explains it. if you want real world econ not just math avoid him. not a bad guy just not a good teacher at time i had him.
