Dr. Heister's courses (I've taken 537, 539, and a 590 with him) are all incredibly challenging and demand your full attention as a student. However, he grades generously so long as you turn in every homework/project. It is hard to get a C in his classes and you have to plug your ears and yell to not learn something useful about propulsion systems.

Homework and test are hard and require a lot of work, but you learn so much. Definitely worth the hard work. This is the best class I have ever taken, and one of the best professors I have ever had.

Enables you to know a little bit of everything to get the problem going. Good professor. Homeworks and Tests require a lot of derivation from what you've been exposed to. Getting a 50% on one of his exams is a norm; rumor has it that even Goddard get 100 on one of his tests. Plenty of opportunity to learn and get involved.
