Shelia means well but is by far the worst professor I've had at NMU next to her husband Charles Leith. She is unorganized and the class lacks structure. Her tests are insanely hard as well. If you have the chance take this class online or with a different professor

Lectures are pointless so you might as well not even show up. Five years of college and so far she's the worst professor I've ever experienced. She acts like she doesn't even want to be there and is no help at all.

I like her material and presentation, but she lectures very slowly; that said, she'll answer questions. The problem is: it is a mandatory class, so we are not psych majors, so how do you know what to ask!? Way to heavy on quizzes/exams. There is no reason to answer 1,300+ quiz/exam questions on an intro topic in one semester.

It's quite obvious that she is about to retire. Shows no motivation to be successful at her job. But she has has tenure so why try at this point. If possible try to take intro to psych with a different teacher.

Don't take this class with burns. She makes it absolutely impossible to figure out her wording in her quizzes and is very very hard to get a hold of, just like everyone else in the dept. You can't ask for help without getting an excuse of why she won't give it to you

If you can, take this course online. Going to class every week is pointless. Very unorganized, speaks quietly so try to sit at the front. I emailed her with questions multiple times and got nothing back. Graded all our exams incorrectly. Can't believe she's the head of the department, one of the worst professors I've had for psych.

THE most unorganized professor I have EVER had. Lectures do not coincide with the book, you do not learn in logical order, be sure to double check her work on the board as she makes mistakes. The TA does not know statistics at all, and is NEVER a help. I do not recommed Statistics with her.

She stands up their and lectures for the whole time about things that arent important, read the chapters and study the study guides and you will pass, pretty hard tests though and the study guides are pretty unclear. Do good in the lab to help your grade.

An already boring subject made even more so by a boring professor. She's nice and means well, but she is scatterbrained and gets ahead of herself. I taught myself out of the book for the most part. It was extremely difficult to make myself attend lecture. Grades on a curve though, and if you read the book, it's no problem.

Sorry for the per son who said this teacher was good, but by no means was she good. After going to 2 lectures, I realized how absolutely boring and pointless they were. From then on, I just read the book, and only went to class on test days. I ended up with an A-. She is a nice person, but extremely boring.

I've had her for intro and for social. For both classes, I pretty much had to teach myself the info. She is nice, but she speaks in segments and is had to follow. She needs to speak in more of a flow to be understandable. I'd rate her as so-so, and at times her lectures can make you want to die

I don't know what these people are saying. Burns is a wonderful professor. Her primary focus is research, so it's difficult to teach such a low level class. You do gain more from the book, but her purpose is to direct us in understanding the material on our own. It's a great strategy.

What's going on in this class! I dido on a lot that was written on her already... very scattered, tests suck, READ the BOOK and use the study guide she offers. The study guide is just about the only aid that she gives that will help you. I don't know how I'm managing a B in this class.
