Well, she's not much for differing opinions. At times she rambles about her personal life. She did go over the time allotted. But she is fair, she gives you opportunities to earn more points and she clearly has a passion for theatre. Do the extra credit, pay attention and take notes. She is a tough teacher but fair. It's all out there for you.

Worst teacher I ever had. Dont take her. Shes rude and always in a mood. Also, she talks about herself quite often. I felt like i got her version of theatre, not what theatre actually is.

Ugh. Her lectures are nonsense and mostly never pull me into the world of theatre. We do no excercises. Theatre is an expressive, active activity. We sit around and listen to useless facts. She gets off topic and talks a lot about her appreciation for Chinese culture. Get a different teacher for intro to theatre, PLEASE.

I took her Intro to Japanese Culture class. Sheilah is very passionate and actively involved in many Eastern studies related things. I thought that the subject matter was very interesting, and you can tell she does as well. She's an upright, confident woman, and her lectures were illuminating. Prompt and straight-forward, I would recommend her.

Great teacher. If you do the assignments and listen in class you will do great. She is very understanding and willing to work with students that actually try. She is a no bs kind of person, so be honest, do your work and you will do great in her class.

I took notes, asked questions on stuff I was unclear on, and read the textbook. I got a 98% in the class. It's that easy. She will say "Make sure you read chapter 3 for Thursday" and that means "Pop Quiz on Thursday" She is clear and precise. Just do the work, and you'll fly through this course :)

If you like boring lectures, staying after class because of non-stop babbling, like being over-worked and tested this is the class for you. I took 15 hours and got A's in all my classes but her's. Her point system is ludicrous and she grades based off the mood she is in. Take art history!!! This class was a nightmare.

Comment:

Shop hrs. are no more time consuming than homework in other classes. There is even an alt. project if you have a conflicting schedule. Tests are not hard if you read, pay attention, and take a few notes. She TELLS YOU when something is key. Sheilah is a smart, candid, experienced and enthusiastic prof. Keep an open mind, have fun, learn theatre.

If you stay on top of the requirements-reading, seeing a few plays, doing a few shop hours (12), then it's really easy and it's fun. People like to complain about all of this, but it is clearly spelled out in the syllabus, she reminds you in class. How far you have to drive to do shop hours is really not her problem. It's a small amount of work.

Despite the other comments, I found her class very entertaining and I learned a lot. Her extensive experience in theatre really helps to learn how the theatre works. Outside reading and studying is beneficial, and the shop hours aren't that bad. Jim is very fun to work with!

TERRIBLE!!! She does not lecture over one thing that is on her tests, no point in even coming to class, b/c absolutely none of her personal stories have anything to do with her extremely hard tests, and 12 hours of shop on your own free time sucks and is ridiculous, the only thing about it I liked was working with Jim (fun guy!). Pointless class.

She does not give study guides anymore and sems to chuckle about her tests. What happened to being successful. She tells stories but this doesn't help someone trying to do well. She seems sad this semester. You will learn about theartre but her tests good luck they are very hard. ANd if you are busy shop hours are hard to fit in.

I read one comment that she give study guides. Wel this year she DOES NOT. Her tests are hard. She doesn't cover what inthe book she tells pretty cool stories but nothing to help you in the tests. SHe does give extra credit . Everything is great about class except the tests a study grade would make me feel more successful.

Sheilah was nice, but theatre isn't that interesting to me. She told a lot of stories about herself & her experiences. It isn't hard to get a good grade. Her tests are too detailed for a fine arts elective. Shop hours suck! I thought it was inmature & unprofessional when she would swear in class.

She doesn't teach to the test, but her stories are interesting. Only three tests and none are if you go to class. If you go to class and take notes you don't need the book because she gives out a note pack to study for tests. Start work on the final project the day she gives it to you and it is no big deal. Great sense of humor.

I took two classes with this instructor and she is great. I consider her a mentor and I think others that left negative things failed to realize her humor. She expects you to be responsible and have fun. She really knows her stuff also. When teachers are tough it usually means your not living up to your potential.

She was a horrible teacher, she told so many stories about herself and never really taught us anything. She did not like to hear others opinions, and she was rude. i disliked her very much. the class was hard for people who had to work to pay bills too, because of the damn shop hours you had to take. Sorry but 12 hours out of my schedule sucked. I
