Interesting syllabus, lectures were usually engaging. Her Postcolonial Lit class inspired me to study abroad in India and she was very helpful in helping me select a program and gave me good advice about the country in general. Very nice person.

I don't know what the other reviewers are talking about, Kapila is amazing. She does have her own opinions, but they're well-researched and passionate. She's a genius and she picks amazing readings. I never felt like she graded based on whether or not you agreed with her. I had her for a seminar in post-colonial lit and it was awesome!

She's a nice lady, and she's willing to help, but she comes off as very ellitist and that turns a lot of people off. paraphase exactly what she says in class in ur paper, you'll get an A, but if you disagree it's a B, no mater what. random tangants in lecture too. Ok advisor. not knowledgeable of other depts.

Lectures that seem forced and all over the place. She oozes apathy. Plays favorites. And most certainly can be a huge BI if you disagree with her. Definitely one of the most over-rated professors at Grinnell.

Um. I thought I was going to be an english major till i took this class. Lecture was unguided, she gave us the author's biographies instead of teaching us how to break down the text, i really didn't like it.and i didn't like the texts she picked at all. was very glad when it was over.

Wonderful class. She did guide discussions toward her own ideas, but it was an intro class, not a seminar. I found her ideas more thought-out and thought-provoking than anyone else's in the room. She knows postcolonial lit, and she's an engaging, enthusiastic professor.

I love her (its why she's my advisor)! Her class was relaxed and fun. It was actually a class i looked forward to going to every day. She is an amazing teacher and friend. Go stop by her office sometime and just chat. She's very helpful and friendly!!
