Comment:
You can't only attend class and expect to pass with flying colors. This class requires A LOT of time and practice. Rod doesn't assign homework but it is a good idea to do the problems at the end of every chapter. Compared to Zhao, his tests are much more difficult and he does not give you hints like Zhao does. Be prepared to do a lot of studying.

Comment:
One of the toughest Chem profs. hands down. Gives a lot of superfluous info during lecture, and some FRQs on tests are way harder than necessary. Some of his multiple choice can be found in practice tests from Dr. Zhao, so I would recommend doing those as practice, since Rod doesn't give practice tests. Would not recommend.

If you are considering taking Rodriguez, do so only if his class is your only option. If not, find another professor. He doesn't give out practice tests. He does a few practice problems and examples during class. Workshop and textbook questions are essential to passing his tests. Don't get behind on those problems, since tests are every two weeks.

Rod's class is one of the hardest classes I have taken. However it is also one of the best. His Lectures are great maybe even the best out of all the Chem 25 teachers and his office hours are fair and he is willing to help anyone. However his tests are killers. The time crunch on these tests are insane but if you can do it it is worth it.

Rod is awesome. He's one of the funniest science teachers at UOP and he really cares if you do well. If you don't get something he will stop and go back so that you do understand. His tests are definitely hard, but dude knows what he's talking about and offers insights to OCHEM and pre-pharmacy. I wish I would have tried harder in his class.

Great lecturer and his door is always open if you need any kind of help. Such a sweet guy, but has incredibly difficult tests if you didn't prepare properly. Make sure to do lots of practice problems and pay attention to lectures.

The nicest person you'll ever meet. Exam questions were based on book questions and examples done in class. Little bit harder, but the concept was the same. Go to office hours, he's got some funny stories.

He's actually a really cute professor! His tests are killer. Make sure to work efficiently! Don't spend too much time on the multiple choice questions. Even though the exams are difficult, there are never any surprises. You will know exactly what to expect. His class isn't mandatory but he sometimes gives test questions during lecture.

This is not an easy class by some advice: DO TEXTBOOK AND WORKSHOP PROBLEMS!!! All of his free response comes from workshop and the textbook and he even goes over some book problems in class and gives a freebie for one response question for each exam. I can't emphasize this enough. If you do problems from lecture, book, and workshop, you'll be fine

This is not an easy course but some advice: DO THE WORKSHOP AND TEXTBOOK PROBLEMS!!!! All free response problems come either workshop or book problems. He also does some book problems in class which can also be a hint for what's on the exam. I can't emphasize that enough. If you go over problems from the book, workshop, and lecutre you'll be fine.

Te amo mucho Silvio! Truly one of the best professors I have ever been taught by. You've got to do those book problems and workshop problems too but lecture is always fun and interesting. The man has the gift of teaching chemistry.

I was lucky enough to have Dr. Rodriguez for both CHEM 25 and CHEM 27. He only teaches at 8am, but if you can wake up for his lectures, they are well worth going to. He is a passionate and thorough prof, so even though his exams are hard, if you take notes, and do textbook & workshop problems, you'll do well.

Chem27 is a difficult course in general - but Rod's exams are very hard to do well on. Many of the "genius" kids take this course because he is a great lecture professor, but his exams are killer. It is a GPA murderer, but it will teach you how to study and be ready to tackle O. Chem. He does not curve as much as other professors.

Rodriguez is a great but tough professor. He explains concepts very well and relates some of the stuff to real-life stuff in industry and pharmacy. He is also quite funny at times and is a great professor to talk to. Very helpful. Exams are fair and covers stuff said in lectures; no surprises. Definitely take him over other professors.

He's a really awesome teacher, despite what rumors say :P. His tests were medium to hard, but really, they aren't that bad if you study hard. Also, everything on the test is presented very clearly in lecture. He knows his stuff, he's fairly funny, and he has very interesting stories. Definitely recommended! :)

He is an awesome teacher who keeps class interesting with his own personal stories.he's funny and a really good teacher, but his tests can be kind of hard. as long as you go to class, keep up, pay attention, and go in when you don't understand, you'll do fine. There's a big curve at the end.
