Whatever you do don't listen to these people. And don't take Dixon. This man can never get his point across and you'll leave ever lecture thinking "what the **** was that about" yes sometimes his theory is interesting, but in a large class he just rambles pointlessly. I love and understand film, but simon is the cure for insomnia. AVOID HIM!

I have taken the same course under different names 3 semesters in a row from Simon. I have learned the same things in each of these classes. Be prepared for a screening that will not be scheduled, and lots of reading. Also class WILL run 15-20 minutes over without fail.

Simon is a very fascinating mad to listen to, even though it takes awhile to get used to his long-windedness and his style. The quizzes are fairly easy once you take a few and knows what he tests on, and the essays that he assigns are demanding but very fulfilling. Getting to know him better would be fantastic, he's rather sharp.

Simon's quizzes are difficult at first but once you start to get into the rhythm of things they aren't too bad. Sometimes he talks to soft. Sometimes we watch movies that are absolutely terrible and bizarre, but we also watch some great ones. Overall he's a nice guy that will always help you out, and if you really try the course should be a breeze.
