Comment:

One of the best profs I've had in 4 years. His lectures are informative, well-prepared, visuall appealing and both serious and funny. He brings to class a degree of specialization on the European enlightenment period seen in the context of East-West relations that is extremely rich and very interesting. Exacting grading and makes you work.

Great prof, good feedback. Both very funny and very dry, oddly. I kind of had to give his class a chance but once I really got into it it was really interesting. He is on top of stuff, organized and fast at marking, and if you go to his office hours he is great. Really good prof!

This class had so much more potential to be great. Grades toughly, but if you work hard you can do well in the class. My biggest complaint is that the lectures were so dry! I think the mark was really missed, and things could be done to enhance the quality of the lectures.

Love his sense of humor. Papers were returned with helpful comments very soon after they're handed in. Best thing about this class is it meets only once a week, and most of it consists of watching movies!

Simon Kow is a Stone Fox. I could listen to him pontificate at length about historical figures in cinema all day. Easily one of the smartest and funniest profs at King's.

While he's a great FYP lecturer this class was disappointing. Sure, Kow can talk a mean game when it comes to Kant, but he's very weak on literary analysis. I got more from the introduction in my copy 'Dr. Faustus' than I did from weeks of lectures. Also, if you take A & S demand a set marking guide. We didn't. Bad idea, I'm telling you.

Don't be fooled by his charming and modest exterior. Sure he can crack jokes about Machiavelli in a FYP lecture, but he is one hard-ass when it comes to marking. He is clear and engaging in a large or small class, but you had better be ready to put a lot of work into his class.

Kos is, quite simply, the man. His fyp lectures were so good that I took two of his EMSP classes this year just because he teaches them - and I'm not even in EMSP. The guy is an incredible professor. Everyone should experience him in their time at Kings.
