Comment:
Avoid if you want a gpa boost, I initially took 10B because usually the Arts series are easy, but Leung expects enrolled students to already have background in the arts. Got a C- in the class and I did all the readings. Avoid.

His tone of voice is a bit sarcastic at times. He is a very generous professor. He knows what he's talking about but the class isn't that bad. In the end, he gave some extra credit. He doesn't care if you sleep in class, he even says you can.

Difficult to comprehend if you have no background in the arts. A lot of his lectures were boring and confusing, but again, I took this as a breadth course. I had a great TA who basically spoon fed his section with midterm/and final questions and answers. Got an A+ because of him. Midterm & final were IN CLASS short answer essays, 50% each.

Comment:
Although I recieved an A in Simon's class, I feel that he is overly paranoid about cheating. He had assigned seating for the midterm AND final. You can't exactly cheat on an essay exam. Furthermore, I feel that Simon tends to overanalyse and teaches his own opinion as the infallible law. His lectures were boring and I feel that Simon, personally, was lazy. His tests were like running the gauntlet. If you don't spend all your time with the TAs to juice the information out, you'll get fuxored.

An excellent professor in the small classes. Very difficult and seemingly insensitive professor in the 10 series'

Very intellectual but does not seem to give a**** about students, rather a stuck up, self centered artist who's just teaching at UCI for the rep. and to make their art resume look good. Should not be a professor if he is not passionate about the students.

He's not the best teacher i've had. I literally learned everything from the review sessions. tests are decent, but can be annoying because there are usually only 4 or 5 questions. so if you don't answer one question you basically got an F. Don't really recommend the class.

Leung is highly intellectual and he deals with his subject matter with great caution. In person he is helpful, generous and is always open for discussion with his students. ** Like it or not, art is more philosophical than you think it is; having a hold of it requires years of conceptual training.

he's a great professor, and the class is easy if you only listen. there are bound to be complaints when a class is so big and most of the people in it don't care. don't take this class if you are not interested in art. but if you are, he's actually really knowledgable, clear and nice.

A rather boring class~ Proff isn't the best but deals ok with students that are difficult and don't care one lick about the subject.
